WWE fans convinced The Rock will make stunning return after wrestler leaves his daughter laying in backstage row

OpenWWE fans convinced The Rock will make stunning return after wrestler leaves his daughter laying in backstage row

WWE fans are convinced NXT star Eddy Thorpe is in for a hiding from The Rock after putting his hands on his daughter.

NXT is the developmental brand of WWE where its up-and-coming stars learn their trade and performers opting to switch to the company often begin their route to stardom.

Ava rarely wrestles on NXT but stars most weeks as its on-screen General Manager

The roster of the brand is overseen by its on-screen authority figure Ava who, in real life, is the daughter of wrestling legend turned movie megastar Dwayne Johnson.

Ava was trained to wrestle by The Rock and at WWE’s state-of-the-art training facility, The Performance Center, in Orlando, Florida.

But despite being put through her paces and making her in-ring debut for NXT in April 2023, she’s wrestled just a handful of matches for the company and has instead found greater prominence in her character role as the boss.

Back in January of this year she was handed the General Manager reins and began overseeing the on-screen battles and disputes that play out on NXT each and every week, under the stewardship of another legend in Shawn Michaels – who is effectively runs WWE’s developmental arm off screen.

As is the case for any General Manager figure in the world of professional wrestling, Ava’s life has been far from quiet as she bids to keep a lid on the ever-boiling disputes from a stable of wrestlers.

This week, though, things took a turn for the worse.

Confronted backstage by a clutch of disgruntled wrestlers who had failed in their attempts to win Iron Survivor Qualifying Matches, Ava did her best to calm tempers and the escalating situation.

An irate Thorpe wasn’t having it and, as Ava attempted to turn away, pulled her by the hand, forcing her to snap around and bark: ‘Do not touch me!’

The cleverly laid-out segment then reached its peak when, having been pulled back to the door by Thorpe, Ava was left clattered after another wrestler was pushed into it, sending her flying.

She was left laying on the floor as figures came to her aid, not least Michaels, who in turn then lost his temper with Thorpe as he tried to explain himself, pushing and shoving him up against a steel door.

Incurring the wrath of Michaels may have been bad enough for the 34-year-old, but fans reckon he might have a worse fate awaiting him, convinced The Rock will show up on NXT to defend his daughter.

“Rock gonna turn up to NXT like this after seeing Ava got knocked down,” said one post, accompanied by a video of an enraged Rock attacking Cody Rhodes backstage.

A similar meme added the reply: “The Rock next week on NXT when he pop out about Ava getting hit with that door.”

“The Rock [will send the] Bloodline to jump NXT just because she got shoved, oh god,” said a further post.

Another, clearly generating the response WWE will have been looking for, added: “Let me go head and start watching NXT just in case The Rock pop up.”

Fans are already buzzing that The Rock will return to WWE this weekend at Survivor Series as the long-running Bloodline saga continues.

The veteran’s last appearance came at October’s Bad Blood event.
