Manchester City got back to winning ways in the Premier League in their last match before the international break with a 3-2 win at home against Fulham, having dropped points in their previous league encounter at Newcastle.

The dropping of those points on Tyneside means Pep Guardiola’s side lost their place at the top of the Premier League table as they chase a record-extending fifth consecutive league title.

The Citizens head into the weekend in second place in the league, just a point behind league leaders Liverpool and are yet to taste defeat in any competition so far this season, 11 games into the new campaign, leaving them unbeaten in the league since December last year.

Wolves, on the other hand, currently prop up the table from 20th position having picked up only one point from their opening seven matches of the new campaign, and are conceding an average of three goals per game.

Gary O’Neil’s side will feel hard done by by the fixture list in the early stages of the season, with six of their opening eight opponents having finished in last season’s top seven, but just one point from seven matches still falls well short of their standards.

The West Midlands side have lost each of their last five matches in all competitions and have lost all three of their matches at Molineux this season in the Premier League, in which they’ve conceded a combined 10 goals.

Wolves have lost seven of their last eight matches against Manchester City, but can take confidence from the knowledge that they did come out on top in this fixture last season in a 2-1 victory.
