Who are the Super Bowl LIX announcers and what happened to Greg Olsen?

EntertainmentSportsWho are the Super Bowl LIX announcers and what happened to Greg Olsen?

The announcer team for the 2025 Super Bowl has been confirmed, and there is set to be an all-time NFL great in the booth.

The broadcast of the Super Bowl is rotated between CBS, Fox, NBC and ESPN each year.

The stage is set for the Kansas City Chiefs to win three Super Bowls in a row

This year, Fox have the honour of showing the Super Bowl, and they’ve gone all out on their analyst.

Who are the Super Bowl announcers?

The play-by-play commentator for Fox’s 2025 Super Bowl coverage is Kevin Burkhardt.

Burkhardt is a 50-year-old American broadcaster, and he joined Fox in 2013.

He was promoted to NFL lead in 2022 after Joe Buck left and called the 2023 Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

This is, of course, the same match-up this year as well.

Alongside him, is the greatest NFL player of all time in Tom Brady.

The former New England Patriots quarterback won the Super Bowl seven times during an illustrious career.

He made a further three Super Bowls, so there are few more qualified to provide analysis on the biggest sporting event in the USA.

Brady has a new role as the analyst on the 2025 Super Bowl

However, the move to make him Fox’s lead analyst has caused controversy.

Brady is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, owning ten per cent of the franchise.

But he is also raking in $375million over ten years as Fox’s colour commentator.

This has created a conflict of interest in the eyes of many fans because there could be players from the Chiefs and Eagles who the Raiders might try to sign in the off-season.

But despite some complaints, he’ll be in New Orleans.

What happened to Greg Olsen?

Olsen was a former tight end and played in the National Football League for 14 years with the Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks.

From there, he joined Fox Sports as a colour commentator in 2021 after retiring.

After gaining rave reviews, he was quickly promoted to the main team and was in the booth for Super Bowl LVII but once Brady became available, Fox quickly moved to demote Olsen.

This also saw Olsen’s wage cut from $10m-a-year down to $3m.

It’s a bad situation for the 39-year-old who has publicly admitted his feelings.

When asked about not getting the chance to call Super Bowl LIX by the Charlotte Observer, he said: “It sucks.”

However, he’s adamant that he will call another Super Bowl again, saying: “In my mind, I’m going to call big-time games again.

“I’m going to call Super Bowl games again. I just don’t know the timeline or the venue.

“I’ve been very honest with them that I’m not content just calling one o’clock regional games for the rest of my career.”

Given Brady still has nine years left on his contract, Olsen could be leaving and joining a rival sooner rather than later.

But despite the disappointment, there is no resentment.

He added: “I don’t have any ill will — there’s no personal resentment towards Tom or, obviously, K.B. (Kevin Burkhardt) and Erin (Andrews).

“I still talk to all of them fairly regularly.

“I’m hoping to see them next week down in New Orleans and grab dinner or a drink and just kind of shoot the s***, catch up.”
