In the meantime, 31 other teams around the league – including a battered and bruised Chiefs – will have to reset their bid for glory.
Each team will need to keep up their form to reach the playoffs which begin in January and secure a spot in the biggest game of all.

Super Bowl 2026: Stadium
Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California is hosting the Super Bowl next year.
The stadium, which only opened in 2014, is home to the San Francisco 49ers and boasts a capacity of 68,500.
It will be the second Super Bowl held there (third overall for the San Fran Bay Area), with the first coming exactly a decade ago.
At Super Bowl 50, the Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers 24–10 on the golden anniversary of the game.

Super Bowl 2026: Logo
The new Super Bowl logo, which features the Roman numeral LX (60), has made plenty of nods to the host city of the match.
It incorporates the Golden Gate Bridge, and the San Francisco Bay, including a colourful landscape of trees and the skyline – as well as the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Santa Clara is 45 miles away from San Fran, however, the logo has paid homage to the city for which the 49ers were originally named.
More interestingly, most of the colors of the rainbow being included has seemingly been in response to Super Bowl logo conspiracy theories, which has plagued organisers in recent years.

Super Bowl 2026: Halftime performer
Kendrick Lamar became the first rap artist to be a solo headliner of the halftime show with his New Orleans set-list.
His successor is yet to be confirmed, but early rumours have suggested a female artist is likely after two years of male performers.
Taylor Swift would be the obvious choice, but as Patrick Mahomes alluded to, her availability depends on how the Chiefs perform – due to her high-profile relationship with tight end Travis Kelce.
“As long as Trav’s playing and we’re in the Super Bowl, it’s going to be hard for her to do the halftime show,” Mahomes said.
“So hopefully Trav keeps playing and we keep making it to the Super Bowl.”
SZA, who made a cameo during Lamar’s set, could be passed the literal baton in the way the latter featured in the 2022 halftime show.
If it is indeed another male next year, Post Malone has been installed as an option following the success of his country album F-1 Trillion.
An outside bet would be Jay-Z, whose company Roc Nation have signed on since 2019 to help select the talent for the NFL showpiece.
“I thought it would be selfish to pick myself too early,” he previously said of performing at halftime. “Maybe one year.”
The symbolism of starring at Levi’s Stadium may appeal to Jay-Z, whose wife Beyoncé was involved in the Super Bowl 50 halftime show at the same venue.

Super Bowl 2026: How to buy tickets
Tickets to the Super Bowl are the most sought-after in all of sport.
The NFL splits ticket sales in three ways, with some being given to the two participating teams’ fans while some are given to other teams in the league.
Fans can also enter a prize draw for the tickets. Details are yet to be confirmed but this draw will likely take place closer to the date.
It is incredibly tough to buy tickets that way, so getting second-hand is another possibility.
But the prices are unbelievably high, with the average ticket price for Super Bowl 59 selling for around $4,708 as of that Sunday afternoon.
That was at least a huge decline on the $9,365 being flogged the day before the Las Vegas Super Bowl.
According to Ticketmaster, the most expensive Super Bowl ticket for Eagles’ win over Chiefs was listed for $24,995.
