West Ham v Fulham prediction

Graham Potter fell to defeat in his opening match as West Ham manager on Friday night as Aston Villa came from behind to book their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup at the Hammers’ expense.

Tuesday night’s London derby will be Potter’s first game back in the Premier League since his final game as Chelsea manager back in April 2023, and sees him take over a West Ham side currently down in 14th in the table following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui.

The Irons are five points off the top half heading into the midweek round of matches, and will need to overturn their current three match losing streak in order to mount a climb up the standings, albeit having lost to three of last season’s top four in that time.

The east London side head into their home game as underdogs with just one win in their last six in all competitions, while only Wolves and Southampton have lost more matches at home in the league than West Ham so far this season.

Fulham make the trip across the capital on Tuesday night as favourites for victory having extended their unbeaten run to nine matches on the weekend following their 4-1 win over Championship play-off hopefuls Watford in the FA Cup on Thursday night.

Marco Silva’s side have drawn six of their last eight Premier League matches which has seen them drop out of the top six into ninth place despite their unbeaten run.

The Cottagers are only three points off the top seven though and hold a seven-point advantage over their opponents on Tuesday, and will take confidence in the knowledge that they’ve won two of their last three games against West Ham, including winning 2-0 at the London Stadium on their most recent visit back in April.

A close and potentially cagey affair is expected to take place in east London tonight, with West Ham players keen to impress their new boss whilst the visitors will be eager to keep hold of their unbeaten run, making me feel a 1-1 draw is the most likely scoreline.

West Ham v Fulham betting tips

Four goals in his last three games has seen Fulham’s Raul Jimenez break into double figures for the season from just 16 starts; a goal off the bench in the FA Cup last weekend leaving the Mexican in very strong form ahead of Tuesday’s London derby.

West Ham have been hit hard by injuries in their goalscoring department with Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug all unavailable for selection, but spurred on by the crowd and their looking to impress their new manager, they will be pushing for victory, though their limited options up front may force them to settle for a draw.
