WaterQuip, Housing Finance Bank Partner to Improve Access to Safe Drinking Water in Schools

In a significant step toward improving public health and education in Uganda, WaterQuip has partnered with Housing Finance Bank (HFB) to enhance access to clean drinking water in schools. This collaboration will provide affordable financing options to schools in need of water purification solutions, ensuring that thousands of students benefit from safe, reliable drinking water.

“Access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities remains a significant challenge in Uganda, particularly in the school system. Through this partnership with Housing Finance Bank, we aim to ensure that schools have access to sustainable water purification systems that will provide students with safe drinking water every day,” said WaterQuip.

Access to clean water and sanitation remains a critical issue in Uganda, with nearly 37% of primary schools and 25% of secondary schools lacking access to clean water. Furthermore, about 60% of rural schools are without basic sanitation facilities, exacerbating the public health crisis.

Addressing these challenges, WaterQuip specializes in delivering innovative water treatment systems designed to ensure sustainable access to clean drinking water for schools. Through a focus on long-term service, maintenance, and impact measurement, WaterQuip has already helped thousands of students gain daily access to safe water.

Housing Finance Bank, with its strong commitment to the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector, will provide financing solutions to schools that choose WaterQuip’s systems. “Housing Finance Bank is proud to be part of a solution that addresses the critical need for clean drinking water and improved hygiene in schools. By providing financial support and literacy training, we aim to minimize the financial barriers that prevent schools from accessing clean water,” said HFB.

WaterQuip will refer eligible schools to HFB for financing, while schools will receive full installation, monitoring, and maintenance services from WaterQuip. HFB will assess and finance qualifying schools, alongside providing financial literacy training. Both partners will also collaborate on awareness campaigns to raise visibility for the initiative.
