The year 2024 has been described as the year of Artificial Intelligence. Some analysts have suggested that artificial intelligence could fuel a 90%+ increase in productivity. For others the potential for AI to automate a lot of the things now and the near future is immense.

However, it is being realized that artificial intelligence could be applied in ways that infringe on human rights unintentionally, such as through biased or inaccurate outputs from AI models. That AI can also be intentionally misused to infringe on human rights, such as for mass surveillance and censorship.

In this edition, as part of our attempts to raise awareness about artificial intelligence, we talked to a lawyer, human rights activist and feminist about human rights and artificial intelligence.
