Tuesday racing tips

  • NEWCASTLE
    4.13: William Dewhirst 6/4 (1pt)
    4.45: Above 4/1 (1pt)
    5.45: Bright 6/1 each-way (1pt)
  • SOUTHWELL
    12.22: Always Waving 9/1 each-way (1pt)

William Dewhirst

Fine record at this track and over course and distance, even if just going by his last four outings with a record reading 1121.

Scored nicely last week here when upped in class and drops down in class today so will have to do it off top-weight but faces a few inconsistent sorts.

He takes on a 5lb penalty but was a stylish winner last week looking like he was always doing enough and Paul Mulrennan should get a similar tune out of him today as he’s thriving.

Above

Had two different tactics deployed, likely just how the race was run, in his last two races.

The latest at Kempton was going wide on the turn but sustaining a challenge near the front of the field and managed to plug on for second amongst a busy finish of 11 runners.

Then at Southwell in December over 5f, he came from almost last to go third late on, was never getting on terms with the front two but that should be a good indication of how to approach him coming into this 5f challenge at Newcastle, with this horse going all over the all-weather courses.

Bright

True Promise and Bright didn’t go too well last time out, though the former was only just denied in a Class 3 handicap when half a length third in December.

However, Bright did beat this reappearing rival here in October and comes into this at an attractive price.

There’s reasons to avoid a couple others like Mondammej, who although have great experience here, it’s over 5f rather than 6f.

Bright on the other hand, could still be improving and has great form over 6f and remains lightly raced, with a strong strike-rate and makes sense as an each-way value bet.

Always Waving

Won over course and distance in December quite comfortably and comes into this as a huge price despite carrying much less than some similarly rated opposition.

Definitely needed the run at Wolverhampton when she was coming back from a huge 411 days off the track and then with those cobwebs dusted off, scored nicely here.

Remains unexposed and dangerous especially for a top yard with David Probert up.
