Tuesday racing tips
- CATTERICK
3.30: Spaceport 1/1 (1pt)
4.00: Classic Maestro 5/6 (1.5pts) - LEICESTER
3.40: Lucky Lugger 15/8 (1pt)
Spaceport
Quite liked how this horse shaped on the flat for trainer William Muir.
Makes his debut for Tom Lacey today on his first start over hurdles and Moon Empress’s other jump horse has produced a couple of early wins to indicate a strong potential for this grey.
US Navy Flag’s progeny doesn’t really lend itself to jumps with only two of his progeny running over this discipline this year, without a win, but there’s strong support for this four-year-old looking to make the most of this weight.
Classic Maestro
The mare Not Staying Long won at a canter last time out but has gone up another 15lb for that win which could hinder her progress.
Especially as she’s up against Classic Maestro who is in great form over fences.
But it may still come down to who is yet to reach their ceiling mark and is well-weighted.
Master Breffni is the only other rival and he’s rated much lower but may also have had things click recently with a win last time out.
However, the money has to be with Classic Maestro still as he’s shown great form this season, only upped 3lb for his latest success.
That said he’s odds-on despite not winning over this distance before but has gone close at 2m4f, and the other rival keeps on drifting.
Cheltenham Festival tips
Two 11-year-olds take on some younger, potentially progressive types this afternoon in heavy conditions.
Lucky Lugger may well have just got the hang of things now as he’s been consistent over fences for a long time before finally getting off the mark last time out.
As a result, he’s not upped by much in the weights and still has a solid chance against Diamond Dice, who has been unpredictable.
The six-year-old has placed 2nd twice but unseated his rider and fallen either side of those and remains tricky to back.
He’s sure to progress nicely over fences but is probably best watched for today.
