OpenTiger Woods shares surprise moment with ex-wife after ‘thrill of a lifetime’ at family event

Tiger Woods was seen embracing ex-wife Elin Nordegren after a weekend to remember with their two children.

The golf legend teamed up with 15-year-old son Charlie and 17-year-old daughter Sam – who was acting as caddie – to deliver memories of a lifetime at the PNC Championship.

While Team Woods were narrowly beaten by Bernhard Langer and son Jason in a dramatic sudden-death play-off, Charlie made his first-ever hole-in-on with a stunning 7-iron at the par-three fourth.

It sparked wild scenes as dad Woods smothered his son on the tee box – and despite the defeat that would follow – Charlie said it was the most fun he has ever had.

Tiger later added: “This is the thrill of a lifetime to be able to experience this all together.”

His ex-partner Nordegren was also in attendance to watch her son Charlie’s heroics.

Woods and Nordegren were married for six years and divorced in 2010 after news emerged of Woods’ numerous marital infidelities.

In 2009, Nordegren famously chased Woods out of their Florida mansion with a golf club – causing him to crash into a fire hydrant and a tree – which ultimately sparked widespread reporting of the golfer’s affairs.

Woods announced an indefinite break from the game to work on his marriage amid one of the most high-profile scandals in sporting history, before the pair officially split in August 2010.

In the 14 years since, they have scarcely been seen together in public, while Nordegren has moved on with ex-NFL player Jordan Cameron, who she shares three kids with.

However, in more recent years, Woods and Nordegren have been pictured supporting Sam and Charlie together at events.

This is the first time they have been seen embracing each other since the cheating scandal.

Woods has always maintained a cordial relationship with his ex-wife, telling TIME Magazine in 2015: “Having the relationship that I have now with her is fantastic. She’s one of my best friends.

“We’re able to pick up the phone, and we talk to each other all the time. We both know that the most important things in our lives are our kids.”

Besides Charlie’s once-in-a-lifetime moment at the PNC Championship, it was also revealed that Sam is heading in Woods’ footsteps after being accepted into Stanford University.

Reflecting on such a meaningful week, the 15-time major winner said: “That’s one of the best highlights we’ve ever had. On the hole previous, he made his first eagle (in a previous PNC), and now he just made his first hole-in-one. It’s a magical two-hole stretch.

“I’m just so happy for him and for the enjoyment we had as a family. To be out there with Bernie and Jason [Langher], it was a lot of fun … It was back and forth, nobody made a mistake today.

“We had to earn it, and that was the joy of it.”

Woods was making his first significant appearance on the golf course since undergoing back surgery in September, as the 49-year-old continues to manage the impact of a near-fatal car accident in 2021.

While the PNC Championship is a glorified hit-and-giggle, the 81-time PGA Tour winner looked to be in decent shape ahead of the 2025 season, where fans hope they will see more of him.

However, Woods was keen to cool any expectations about his current level.

He said: “I’m nowhere near competitive shape. I’m a great scramble partner.

“We made a great team this week, and that’s the whole joy of it, is to be out here with family and bonding and just the enjoyment of each other’s company.”
