Tuesday football betting tips

Bet of the Day

Crystal Palace to beat Aston Villa @ 6/4

Crystal Palace impressed when winning 2-0 at Fulham on Saturday and the Eagles can fly high again when Aston Villa go to Selhurst Park on Tuesday night.

Oliver Glasner’s men didn’t allow Fulham a single shot on target at Craven Cottage at the weekend and Palace conceded an expected goals figure of just 0.2 to their London rivals.

It’s clear that the Eagles are a well-drilled defensive unit under the Austrian tactician and the south Londoners also have the creative talents of Eberechi Eze, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr in attack.

Palace were beaten by Everton prior to the Fulham success, but the Eagles were by far the better team in that contest and that was only Palace’s second defeat in 11 games.

Aston Villa are a good team, but the Villans have contested tough games against Liverpool and Chelsea in the last six days and those intense fixtures may have left their mark.

Special of the Day

Chelsea to win and both teams to score v Southampton @ 5/4

Southampton are the weakest team in the Premier League, but they can at least hold genuine hopes of finding the net at Chelsea.

Of course, the Blues are a better side and have more quality and talent in their squad, but the west Londoners haven’t been anywhere near their best in recent weeks and it doesn’t look an altogether happy camp at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have won only three of their last 12 matches and that’s a run which includes a 2-0 loss at Ipswich and a 2-1 Stamford Bridge defeat to Fulham.

The Blues have conceded 11 goals in their last five games and Enzo Maresca’s men haven’t kept a Premier League clean sheet since a 0-0 draw with Everton just before Christmas.

That said, the Blues are likely to be too strong for a Southampton side, who have won only two top-flight matches all season, and backing a Chelsea victory and both teams to score looks a play.

Longshot of the Day

Georginio Rutter to score first in Brighton v Bournemouth @ 17/2

Brighton have scored nine goals in their last three matches, while they have won six of their last eight games and Georginio Rutter is developing into a major threat.

The 22-year-old has scored six goals in his last eight appearances from the south coast side and that includes finding the net in Brighton’s 4-0 hammering of Southampton on Saturday.

The Frenchman has hit 46 shots in the Premier League this season, with 36 of those coming inside the box and Rutter looks capable of becoming Brighton’s latest breakout star.

At 17/2, the Brighton forward can be backed to open the scoring against Bournemouth.
