Bet of the day

Arsenal to beat Manchester United @ 13/20

Arsenal and Manchester United meet in the undoubted tie of this year’s FA Cup third round on Sunday and the Gunners look ready to end the current cup holders’ reign at the first hurdle.

Mikel Arteta’s hosts will have been disappointed to lose 2-0 to Newcastle in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final in midweek, but there wasn’t too much wrong with the Gunners’ performance and it may have been a different story had Kai Havertz not spurned a golden opportunity to score.

That was Arsenal’s first defeat at the Emirates this season but it seems unlikely that United will deliver a second.

The Red Devils played with credit in last weekend’s 2-2 draw away to Premier League leaders Liverpool, but that was their first point in five outings and Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils had been woeful in defeat to Wolves (2-0) and Bournemouth (3-0) previously.

Arsenal will have eyes on a 15th FA Cup triumph this season and United are unlikely to stop the Gunners from making progress this weekend.

Special of the day

Tottenham to win & both teams to score v Tamworth @ 6/4

Tottenham have conceded 14 goals in their last six matches and Tamworth look to have high hopes of getting on the scoresheet when Spurs head to the Lamb Ground for a David versus Goliath FA Cup showdown.

The Lilywhites have the small matter of a north London derby to consider on Wednesday and it would not be a surprise if Ange Postecoglou rung the changes in Sunday’s third-round tie

That aside, a potential back five of Antonin Kinsky, Pedro Porro, Djed Spence, Archie Gray and Radu Dragusin looks vulnerable even against National League opposition.

Long shot of the day

St Johnstone or draw double chance v Rangers @ 5/1

It will clearly be a huge ask for St Johnstone to claim a positive result away to Rangers on Sunday, but the 5/1 on offer about the Saints taking home at least a point from their trip to Ibrox looks too big to pass up.

The Gers clearly have a much more talented squad than their visitors from Perth, but that hasn’t exactly been evident in recent matches.

The Light Blues have won only two of their last eight games – failing to beat Dundee, Hibs, Motherwell and St Mirren in that run – and while many of their issues have come on their travels, Philippe Clement hasn’t built a team capable of dominating against inferior opposition.

It won’t take long for the Ibrox crowd to become disgruntled should things not go Rangers’ way, and there may just be a shock on the cards away from the FA Cup action.
