Howie Roseman might be a wizard.
The Philadelphia Eagles general manager has built the NFL‘s most talented roster over the last few seasons.
But what he did last offseason specifically, should be studied in NFL history books.
Don’t take my word for it.
Take the Associated Press’ list of finalists for the NFL’s end-of-season awards and you will see several Eagles were selected.
Several as in a whopping five.
However, that’s not the impressive part.
What’s impressive is that the five Eagles selected as finalists are all in their first year in Philadelphia.
Saquon Barkley is up for MVP and Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Zack Baun is up for Defensive Player of the Year.
Both Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell are up for Defensive Rookie of the Year.
And lastly, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is up for Assistant Coach of the Year.
Outside of Fangio, who was more of a Nick Sirianni hire, the other four were directly brought in by Roseman.
He paid Barkley big money, relative to the running back market, that the New York Giants wouldn’t, signing him to a three-year, $37.75 million contract in free agency.
Roseman had arguably the biggest steal of the offseason, signing free agent Zach Baun to a one-year, $3.5 million contract.
Those two moves would be enough in their own right to consider the offseason an all time great heist, but then you add Mitchell and DeJean, and it’s not even a contest.
Roseman drafted Mitchell with the 22nd pick out of Toledo, then followed it up with selecting DeJean in the second round with pick number 40.
And now they are all up for awards.

Whether they take home any or not, remains to be seen, but that shouldn’t minimize what Roseman did in just one offseason.
Especially if the Eagles are able to finish the job and defeat Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
They came up short two seasons ago, against the same Kansas City team, in Super Bowl LVII.
This year’s Eagles are much different.
The NFL’s award list of finalists should tell you that.
Now it’s on the new guys to help do what their teammates and coaches couldn’t.
And that’s bring home the second Super Bowl in franchise history.
If they do, Roseman’s legend will grow that much larger.
