Data shows Manchester United are getting little return on points for the amount they spend in the transfer window.
Transfer fees paid per point earned in the league so far this season shows that there is only one team with a higher spend than the Red Devils.
Southampton currently hold the unwanted ranking with £20,415,333 spent and just six points amassed in the table so far.
This comes with Saints in danger of beating Derby County for the record of lowest points total in Premier League history with the Rams obtaining just 11 points in the 2007/08 season.
Southampton have registered just one victory, three draws and a huge 15 defeats, leaving them on six points.
Leicester City are above them with 14 points and Ipswich Town have 15 with both sides having won three matches so far this season.
Ipswich also have the lowest spend per point in the league, at just £1,319,800. This is less than half of Bournemouth, who are the second lowest on £3,336,667.
Man United can look to their recent transfer windows for their heavy spending, as well as a poor start to the season.
The side are currently languishing in 14th in the Premier League table, having won six and lost nine games to earn them 22 points.
Man United have a current transfer record of €-111.5million, with a squad value of €794.65m.
In summer 2024, they added centre-backs Matthijs de Ligt and Lenny Yoro for £42.9m and £52m respectively.
Joshua Zirkzee joined for a fee of £36.5m from Bologna and has yet to impress for the Red Devils.

Manuel Ugarte and Noussair Mazraoui were amongst the other recruits who have performed slightly better, with the former joining for £42m and Mazraoui for £12.8m from Bayern Munich.
Scott McTominay was the club’s biggest sale last summer, joining Serie A side Napoli for £25m.
Mason Greenwood joined Marseille and Aaron Wan-Bissaka went to Premier League rivals West Ham for £15m.
The transfer window prior – in summer 2023 – saw Mason Mount move up north for £55m, as well as underperforming striker Rasmus Hojlund for £72m.
Southampton, who top the list for wage cost per points earned, recruited the likes of Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Aaron Ramsdale and Cameron Archer.
Harwood-Bellis was the Saints’ most expensive signing at £20m, whilst former Arsenal goalkeeper Ramsdale cost them £18m plus £7m in add-ons.
