Newcastle v Wolves prediction

Newcastle head into their midweek Premier League clash with Wolves tonight as strong odds on favourites for victory having won each of their last eight games on the spin.

Eddie Howe’s side’s 3-1 win over Bromley in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday night saw the Magpies make it eight consecutive wins, and they’ll be looking to make it nine in a row tonight as they take on a struggling Wolves side.

Six of those victories have come in the Premier League which has seen the Tyneside club embark on a run that started with them in 12th place in the table following defeat at Brentford last month, to tonight where a win will see them break into the Champions League positions.

Newcastle start the night fifth in the league but after Chelsea’s dropping of points against Bournemouth last night, there is now only a two point gap between the two sides.

Wolves make the long trip to the north east fresh off the back of an FA Cup victory of their own after beating Championship side Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Saturday lunchtime.

The victory saw Vitor Pereira’s return to winning ways after suffering a 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest in their last Premier League outing – the Portuguese’s first loss since taking charge of the West Midlands side just before Christmas.

Wolves head into tonight’s match with only goal difference separating them from the relegation zone, as they sit level on points with Ipswich and two ahead of Leicester, although are only a point off Everton, who also play tonight.

The West Midlands side have won only twice on the road in the league all season, but both of those victories have come in their last four away games, showing an upward trajectory in their form whilst also being boosted by the the return of top scorer Matheus Cunha from suspension tonight.

Newcastle will back themselves to make it nine wins in a row tonight against a Wolves side struggling at the wrong end of the table, and I expect them to pick the three points and break into the top four, a 3-0 home win I think looking the most likely with all of the Magpies’ front three on form.

Newcastle v Wolves betting tips

Alexander Isak is probably the Premier League’s most in form striker right now with nine goals in his last seven league games, scoring in all of them.

Meanwhile, wingers Anthony Gordon and Jacob Murphy have picked up five and seven goals contributions in their last six in the league respectively ahead of tonight’s match against statistically the worst defence in the top flight.

The Magpies have also been rock solid at the back of late, conceding just one goal in their last five Premier League matches.
