New York Rangers at Calgary Flames predictions
It was a rare occurrence that Igor Shesterkin didn’t have to carry his team into the win column all by himself on Tuesday. The netminder stopped 21 of 24 shots he faced, earning his eighth win in his 13th start.
After a pointless outing in Seattle, Adam Fox registered two assists against the Canucks, bringing his season total to 15. The 2021 Norris Trophy winner has amassed 323 points in 374 regular season games.
Centerman Mika Zibanejad might be trending in the right direction after a subpar start to the year. In over 21 minutes of ice time versus Vancouver, the 31-year-old obtained a multi-point performance gathering a goal and an assist.
The Flames leading point-getter, Rasmus Andersson scored the lone goal for Calgary on Tuesday. The blueliner has accumulated 12 points in 19 outings this year. The sturdy defensemen is averaging just under 26 minutes of ice time in the 2024-25 season.
Arguably the Flames’ best player this season, Dustin Wolf is having a remarkable season in the blue paint. The rookie netminder currently possesses a .925 save percentage which is the fifth best in the NHL. On Tuesday against the Isles, Wolf made 28 total saves.
New York Rangers at Calgary Flames tips
Time will tell if the Calgary Flames can carry on this surprising run they have put together almost a quarter of the way into the season. The Flames currently own the 12th-best points percentage while only averaging just over 10 minutes when leading per game which happens to be the 31st highest. Playing catch up each game might come back to haunt this team with the inability of carrying a lead inside the 60-minute frame for longer spells when they take the ice.
Both clubs hold solid shot-stopping tandems in net as the Rangers and Flames each have team goals against averages of under 2.70. The Broadway Blueshirts duo currently have a combined save percentage of .941. Between Wolf and Vladar, Calgary’s partnership in the crease is boasting a .916 combined save percent.
The Flames are under warriors of late as each of their last five contests has gone under the set total goals mark. For the year Calgary 19 games into their campaign, the under has cashed in 13 instances. For the Rangers, the under has clipped in four of their last 5 games against a team hailing from the Pacific Division. With these trends and the solid goalies both clubs have at their disposal, we feel this could be a lower-scoring tilt.
