Marcus Rashford has returned to the Manchester United squad for their clash with Newcastle on Monday night.

It is the first time in four matches the winger has been named in Ruben Amorim’s matchday list.

However, he was subsequently dropped for the Manchester derby three days later.

The 27-year-old has since missed the defeats to Bournemouth and Wolves as well as the Carabao Cup exit to Tottenham.

Rashford has also hinted at a move away from Old Trafford during his hiatus from the side.

He revealed earlier this month he is ready for a ‘new challenge’ after 19 years with the club.

However, the forward still has over three years remaining on the contract he signed in July 2023.

So far this season, Rashford has scored seven goals and provided three assists in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Of those, three goals have come in six matches under Amorim following his arrival in November.

The Portuguese is hoping for a turnaround in fortunes on Monday night, though, following three consecutive defeats in all competitions.

A win at home to Newcastle will lift the Red Devils up to 11th at the halfway stage of the season.

United have so far won just six times in the league this season, with their opponents seventh following three straight wins to nil.

Rashford’s return to the squad comes with Amorim missing several key players for the visit of the Magpies.

Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte are both serving suspensions.

Meanwhile, Victor Lindelof, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw remain unavailable through injury.

United are back in action again on Sunday away to runaway leaders Liverpool.
