Manchester City will head back to the capital this weekend desperate to get back to winning ways after suffering a humiliating 5-1 defeat at the hands of Arsenal in the Premier League last weekend, a result which saw them drop out of the Champions League positions.

Pep Guardiola’s side have now lost two of their last four matches, conceding nine goals in those defeats, ahead of their FA Cup clash against fourth tier opposition, where they will likely rest several of their star players with a Champions League tie against Real Madrid coming just four days later.

The Citizens, four-time defending Premier League champions, currently sit down in fifth in the standings, two points off the top four in what was a disastrous middle third of the season for the club, with only 13 league matches of the season remaining.

The Manchester side have reached at least the semi finals in all but one seasons since Guardiola first took charge of the team in 2016, with the Spaniard having lifted the trophy on two occasions. It’s been 10 years since the club were knocked out before the fifth round of this competition.

Standing in their way of a place in the draw for the fifth round are a Leyton Orient side currently in the midst of a League One play-off battle.

Richie Wellens’ side have lost just one of their last 12 league games, winning nine of those in a run which has seen them leap from 21st in the table, just one point above the relegation zone, into the top six and the fourth and final play-off spot for potential promotion.

The Os did fall to defeat in their most recent outing thought, a 1-0 defeat at home fellow play-off candidates Stockport, and will be hoping not to fall to successive home defeats against Greater Manchester opposition in back to back weekends.

The east London side will fancy their chances at a huge upset against a wounded Manchester City team in their first appearance at this stage of the FA Cup in 14 years.

Leyton Orient have won only once against Manchester City in the last 116 years, though the two teams haven’t met since a second division league clash finished 2-2 back in 1966.
