The Baltimore Ravens advanced to the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs with a big win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday.
Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry ran riot at M&T Bank Stadium, as Baltimore secured a 28-14 victory against their AFC North rivals.
Running back Henry rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns – a Ravens playoff record – as he proved his postseason credentials on a cold winter night.
Jackson, meanwhile, threw for 175 yards and two TDs without his No. 1 target Zay Flowers, who was missing because of a knee injury.
The quarterback also added 81 yards on the ground as the Ravens ran over the Steelers and in doing so, made NFL history of his own.
Coming into the game, Jackson had recorded 521 rushing yards in the postseason – the sixth-most by a QB.
He jumped straight to the top of the list against the Steelers, with 81 yards taking him to a total of 602.
“More history for Lamar,” the NFL’s official X account wrote, announcing the new playoff record.
Fans were quick to react to the news, sharing their praise for Jackson.
“Easily the best dual-threat QB of all time,” one person wrote.
“His evasiveness is RIDICULOUS! He makes the best defensive players in the world look like they are on ice skates,” another said.
“That’s awesome! Always great to see history being made. Lamar’s definitely leaving his mark,” a third wrote, while countless others suggested Jackson should be named MVP again this year.
With an impressive wild card performance against Pittsburgh, the Ravens advance to the Divisional Round next weekend, where they will play away to the Buffalo Bills or at home against the Houston Texans.
And while Jackson made history against the Steelers, he was quick to share praise for teammate Henry after the game.
The veteran RB frustrated Pittsburgh with stiff arms and sprints all evening to record his fourth playoff game with 150 or more yards, which ties him with Terrell Davis for the most in NFL history.
He ripped off a 44-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, in which he reached a top speed of 20.6 mph.
That play was described as ‘a movie’ by his QB.
“Do you watch the movie Cars? When Lightning McQueen was just flying, flashing past, that’s how Derrick looks,” Jackson said post-game.
“He was running past all those guys. It just looked like a movie, bro. I’d rather be watching it than being on the other side of the ball. I know that.”
With both Jackson and Henry making history in the wild card round, the Ravens are in great shape, and denying them a spot in the Super Bowl will be a tough task for any team they come up against in the next few weeks.
