Kylian Mbappe struck a landmark effort to put himself firmly among Real Madrid’s elite.
The French superstar netted an incredible effort from range to put Los Blancos ahead in their 4-2 victory over Sevilla.
Receiving the ball 30 yards from goal, Mbappe opened up his body and unleashed a fierce effort that found the top corner of the net.
That strike took the forward to ten goals in LaLiga, a tally that he’s reached after just 16 league fixtures for Real Madrid.
Only Jude Bellingham (ten) and Cristiano Ronaldo (13) took fewer games to score ten LaLiga goals for Real Madrid this century.
Mbappe wasn’t the only Real Madrid player to find the net against Sevilla, with Fede Valverde, Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz rounding off the win.
It was also a poignant occasion for Jesus Navas who made his last-ever appearance in football as he prepares to retire.
The Sevilla legend was in tears on the pitch last week during his final home appearance for his club, with his late cameo at the Bernabeu proving to be another poignant occasion.
Mbappe’s strike was his 14th in all competitions this term, with the forward contributing three assists as well.
While he’s getting to play alongside one of the players on the decorated list that he joins, Mbappe admitted his regret that he’s unlikely to ever get to play with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking to BeIN Sports about his senior years, Mbappe said: “I’ve played with great players: Lionel Messi, Neymar, [Antoine] Griezmann, [Paul] Pogba, [Karim] Benzema…
“It would have been fun to play with Cristiano Ronaldo.
“It’s going to be very difficult now, but I was lucky enough to play against him, a legend of the sport.”
Ronaldo scored 450 goals in 438 games for Real Madrid, helping the club to two LaLiga titles and four Champions Leagues.
If Mbappe can earn that sort of success during his time in Madrid, he’ll be a happy man.
