KSI has lauded brother Deji’s boxing skills – but admits one thing he does ‘takes the p***’.
Deji is set to fight on KSI’s Misfits Boxing Qatar card on Thursday night in what will be his third professional bout.
He takes on content creator Dawood Savage at the Lusail Sports Arena in Doha for Misfits & DAZN X Series 19, which is headlined by Slim Albaher vs AnEsonGib.
“I think he is going to absolutely obliterate him, but he can do it whenever he wants,” KSI told talkSPORT.com exclusively in Qatar.
“So I think Deji is just going to have fun, man. Go in there, maybe throw a couple of jabs, while just laughing and smiling the whole way. [He’ll] bully this man and it’s not going to be close.”
Deji made his professional boxing debut in 2022 against Yousef Erakat, more commonly known as FouseyTube, before fighting arguably the greatest pound-for-pound boxer of all time in Floyd Mayweather.
He lost to Mayweather via TKO after six rounds, but somehow managed to land a hard enough punch to give ‘Money’ a black eye.
At the beginning of his YouTube boxing career, Deji went three fights with no victories, suffering losses to Jake Paul, Vinnie Hacker and Alex Wassabi.
Deji fought Paul in a white collar contest in Manchester on the card of their brothers’ highly anticipated showdown in 2018 as KSI drew with Logan Paul.
After fighting Mayweather, he won on his boxing return last May against Swarmz, and is now looking to ramp up his activity with the aim of eventually fighting bigger and better fights.
“For me, and I talked to Deji, he said that this is to get rid of his ring rust so that he can finally have proper fights and I feel like he needs a proper fight,” KSI added.
“We keep giving him easy fights, and as a brother it annoys me because I know his potential, but he’s just taking the p***. He’s taking the p***.
“I don’t want to go in on him. I’m sure he’s going to win very easily, but it would be good to see him actually get tested.”
Deji infamously lost a bet to KSI after his older brother wagered him £1million to get a six-pack before the summer of 2024.
The stigma of the 27-year-old being lazy has surrounded Deji ever since he lost to Paul, as many have made the link that he could’ve prevented Paul from going on to fight Mike Tyson if he had actually trained for the bout.
Paul shared the ring with a 58-year-old Tyson in front of 70,000 Texas fans in November and won on points after eight underwhelming rounds.
KSI was asked about Misfits Boxing appearing in Qatar and how the Middle East card all came together.
“We’ve been working on it for quite a while and it’s all really Mams [Taylor], who is the guy that manages to make things happen,” he said.
“There’s been some things that have fallen through, especially Jay Swingler [YouTuber & Misfits boxer], not being able to fight because of certain situations.
“But you know we’ve made it work, we’ve made it work. There were pull outs here and there, but eventually we made sure the Supercard was a Supercard.”
Misfits Boxing was founded by Kalle and Nisse Sauerland, KSI and Mams Taylor to allow various social media stars and content creators battle it out in the ring.
The promotion signed a five-year broadcasting deal with DAZN in January 2023, which guarantees at least six Misfits & DAZN: X Series events per year with two pay-per-view shows.
KSI made his debut for the promotion fighting Luis Alcaraz Pineda an Swarmz on the same night and won his following bout against FaZe Temperrr, before his victory over Joe Fournier was ruled a no contest.
He lost his last boxing fight against Tommy Fury, who beat the 31-year-old after overcoming Paul eight months prior.
