Juventus vs PSV predictions
Given their overall record in Italian football, it is impossible to avoid the conclusion that Juventus are historic underachievers in the Champions League.
Juve have won 36 Serie A titles down the years, putting them comfortably ahead of Inter (20) and AC Milan (19). Yet the Bianconeri have been crowned kings of the continent on just two occasions, compared to thrice for Inter and seven times for Milan.
Juventus tasted success in Europe’s premier competition in 1985 and 1996. They have come close on several other occasions, finishing as runners-up in 1973, 1983, 1997, 1998, 2003, 2015 and 2017.
No team in Europe has lost as many Champions League finals as Juventus, a painful and unwanted record for a club whose motto reads: “winning is not important; it is the only thing that counts”.
Juventus have long been desperate to add another Champions League trophy to their cabinet at the Allianz Stadium, but the bookies do not see them as strong contenders this season. The Old Lady rank 14th in the outright market ahead of the play-offs, behind domestic rivals Inter, Atalanta and Milan.
That is a fair assessment of where Juventus are at right now. They did not exactly set the league phase alight, winning just three of their eight assignments to finish 20th.
It has not exactly been a-thrill-a-minute in Serie A, but Thiago Motta’s team have been particularly dull to watch on the European stage. Their league phase matches averaged just two goals per game, the second-lowest figure in the competition. Red Star Belgrade, who were eliminated after finishing 29th, scored 13 goals to Juventus’ nine.
Yet the Bianconeri are still standing and a two-legged tie against PSV does not represent a terrible play-off draw. If they were to come through this test, Juventus would be just one aggregate victory away from a place in the quarter-finals.
Still, PSV will not fear Juventus. They may have lost 3-1 to their upcoming opponents back on matchday one of the league phase, but they finished by winning four of their last five games to come 14th.
PSV signed off with an impressive 3-2 victory over Liverpool, becoming the only team in the league phase to avoid defeat by Arne Slot’s charges. Juventus have been warned.

Juventus vs PSV betting tips
Juventus and PSV will butt heads in the first leg of their Champions League play-off on Tuesday.
Juventus to win
Juventus recently lost their first game of the Serie A season, going down 2-1 to Napoli. They have recovered from that setback well, winning back-to-back games against Empoli and Como.
PSV would rightly argue they are a stronger side than either member of that duo, but Bosz’s side could nevertheless come unstuck in Turin on Tuesday.
The Dutch outfit struggled on the road in the league phase, winning just one of their four matches at opposition grounds. Even that success was a slender 3-2 defeat of Red Star Belgrade.
Juventus have looked a little better in recent weeks as Thiago Motta attempts to make them more of a threat going forward.
PSV pack a punch in attack, but the solidity of Juventus’ backline – coupled with their home advantage – should allow them to establish a first-leg lead.

Juventus to score first
As we saw in the league phase, Juventus’ games do not usually contain a large number of goals. Scoring first will therefore be crucial on Tuesday.
PSV found the back of the net 16 times in the league phase, while they tend to make the net bulge on a regular basis in the Eredivisie.
Yet Bosz’s men will struggle to get the ball off this possession-obsessed Juventus team. That could make them frustrated and, in turn, ill-disciplined.
Juve have scored first in two-thirds of their Serie A contests in 2024/25. No side in that league has drawn first blood more often.
PSV shipped the first goal in that aforementioned 3-1 loss to Juventus in September and we anticipate the same outcome here.

Randal Kolo Muani to score any time
Luis Enrique was never the biggest fan of Randal Kolo Munai, so it was no surprise when Paris Saint-Germain loaned him to Juventus in January.
Kolo Muani is settling in nicely at Juventus, a side whose profligacy inside the penalty area has cost them on numerous occasions this season.
The France international has notched five goals in his first three games for Juventus, including a brace against Como last time out.
Kolo Muani’s confidence has been restored and Thiago Motta is ready to unleash the in-form frontman against PSV.
Perhaps this is just a hot streak, but Kolo Muani has what it takes to score his first Champions League goal for Juventus on Tuesday.
