Few go out with John Daly and live to tell the tale.
Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston is one of the lucky ones.
Johnston sat down on the DP World Tour’s YouTube channel and shared an array of stories, including the time he drank with DalyDP World Tour YouTube
On the DP World Tour‘s YouTube series titled ‘Life on Tour’, Johnston sat down and told the world about the time he went out drinking with Daly.
Spoiler alert, it didn’t end well for Beef.
Johnston set the stage, meeting Daly for the first time at the Turkish Airlines Open a few years back, and going for a couple of beers after that Sunday’s final round.
Of course it’s never just a couple of beers with Daly.
“We got a chat in and I was having a beer, and he was like, ‘we’ll get a bucket of these beers.’ And he was obviously straight on whisky,” Johnston said.
“And he was like ‘look, go back to the hotel and come meet me and we’ll carry on.’
When Daly invites you out to drink, you go, no questions asked.
“I remember sitting there… and he ordered like two large whiskeys,” Johnston said.
“And he’s got the can of coke on the side. As the waiter put them down, [Daly] went, ‘can we order two more?’”
Looking at the two large whiskeys sitting on the table, and with Daly already ordering two more, Johnston knew he was in trouble.

“Mate, they’ve just come!” Johnston shouted.
Trying to keep up with Daly is a fool’s task, as Beef eventually learned.
The beer and whiskey were flowing and the Englishman was in too deep.
“Next thing, I’m in my pants, and I’m shaking a tree, and then I’m jumping in the pool, and I’m like, ‘he seems OK! I’m not, he seems OK!’” Johnston explained, trying not to laugh.
“And I wake up and I was like ‘what happened?’ And my missus at the time was like, ‘yea you stripped down to your pants, and you were shaking this bush for some reason, and you kinda jumped in the pool.’”

That’s what a casual outing will entail when drinking with Daly.
Johnston explained that when he asked about what happened to Daly, he was told he was fine.
In fact more than fine. Daly supposedly just walked back to his hotel at the end of the night.
It may have been a crazy wild night for Johnston, but for Daly, it was just another day that ended in ‘y’.
