Saquon Barkley is doing things not even the Kelce brothers can believe.
On the newest episode of the Kelce brother’s hit podcast, New Heights, Travis asked Jason if Barkley already belongs on the Mount Rushmore of Philadelphia Eagle running backs.
The question flummoxed the elder Kelce brother.
While that might seem like an overreaction of a question, considering Barkley has only been an Eagle for eight games, the younger Kelce may have a point.
Barkley’s 443 rushing yards over the past three games are the most for an Eagles player over a three-game stretch in franchise history.
That prompted the question from Travis.
“Is Saquon already on the Eagles’ running back Mount Rushmore, just eight games into the season?”
Jason had to think for a moment, looking like a man in deep thought.
“I’m trying to think who’s up there right now,” the former Eagle said.
“Brian Westbrook, LeSean McCoy…I think you probably put Steve Van Buren, I think was a running back.
“You know listen, he played in a different era, but-“
Travis cut Jason off, telling him, “You said yes, without even saying yes.”
Westbrook, McCoy, Van Buren and now Barkley, sit among the Mount Rushmore of Philadelphia running backs.
At least according to Jason Kelce.
To further strengthen their point that Barkley already belongs up there with the franchise greats, take a look at what he’s done not only in a three game stretch, but his first eight games overall.
Barkley is only the third Eagle ever, to reach 1,000 yards from scrimmage (925 rushing, 146 receiving) in eight games.
McCoy did it twice in 2011 and 2013, and Westbrook did it once in 2007.
There’s no telling what Barkley’s ceiling is, as each week he seems to be getting better and better, and more comfortable in Philadelphia’s system.
The Eagles are 6-2 and look to have found their stride in recent weeks, behind Barkley and quarterback Jalen Hurts, along with a much improved defense.
If Barkley keeps up his play, and keeps busting out reverse hurdles, he’s going to stay in Eagles fans’ hearts forever.
