As soon as Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, fans wanted to know if Kelce had played his last game.
The 35-year-old tight end was tight-lipped after the humbling defeat, while Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes said that he planned to give Kelce time.
Three days later, the pressing questions about Kelce’s NFL future are starting to get answered.
He sounded emotional during the latest New Heights podcast while discussing his plans with his older brother, Jason, who went through a tear-filled retirement process during the previous NFL offseason.
“I know everybody wants to know if I’m playing next year,” Kelce said.
He then spent almost two minutes discussing his future with the Chiefs.
The 10-time Pro Bowler has strong Hollywood ties and is best known as Taylor Swift‘s boyfriend.
With a ton to consider after a Super Bowl blowout defeat, Kelce is unsure if he wants to continue playing in the NFL.
“The process can be gruelling,” Kelce said as he weighs up what’s next in a 12-year NFL career.
“It can weigh on you. It can make you better and it can drive you crazy at the same time.

Kelce might have played his final NFL game in the Super Bowl[/caption]
“Right now, it was one of those things that was kind of driving me crazy this year.”
Kelce entered the NFL in 2013 as a third-round pick out of Cincinnati.
After getting kicked off his college team and barely playing as a rookie, he’s become one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history.
But all of the Chiefs’ success has come with a price.
“The fact that we keep going to these AFC Championships and these Super Bowls, that means that I’m playing in an extra three games more than everybody else in the entire league,” Kelce said.
“That’s a lot of wear and tear on your body. It’s a lot of time spent in the building.”

Kelce said his main focus right now is on supporting his Chiefs teammates after a deflating loss that ended a 15-2 season.
Kansas City fell short of becoming the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls, and the Chiefs were down 34-0 to Philly.
While the Eagles celebrate a world championship, Kelce is weighing whether he wants to endure everything that it takes to compete at a Super Bowl level again.
“The wheels are falling off,” one fan tweeted. “My heart breaks for Trav. All his life he has worked hard to get where he’s at. Now he needs to decide if it’s worth for him to stay, with all the guilt on whether he can still play at his best. I hope he takes his time, it’s a big decision.”
Kelce made it clear that he’s considering playing in 2025 and retiring at the same time, and it’s not a decision that he’s taking lightly.
“I’m just kicking everything down the road,” Kelce said.
“I’m kicking every can I can down the road. I’m not making any crazy decisions.”
