‘I gave it all’ – Liverpool fans fear Mohamed Salah is saying goodbye as bombshell new interview drops

EntertainmentSports‘I gave it all’ – Liverpool fans fear Mohamed Salah is saying goodbye as bombshell new interview drops

Liverpool fans are worried that Mohamed Salah’s latest interview is the biggest hint yet that he’ll be departing Anfield at the end of the season.

The Egypt star has continued to go from strength to strength at Liverpool, having netted 25 goals in the top-flight this season, and his form has not been impacted by chatter about his future.

Salah has been at the centre of a media storm for almost the entirety of this campaign, with the star’s contract due to expire and no updates coming from the Merseyside club.

Ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Newcastle on Wednesday, which is live on talkSPORT, the 32-year-old was asked what he wants his legacy to be.

Speaking to TNT Sports, he said: “I want fans to remember that I gave it all to the fans.

I gave it all to the city. I was here, I wasn’t lazy, I just enjoyed my football and gave it all.

“I think that’s what the city is about – they give you love and you have a connection with them because you give your all.

“I just want them to remember that I was here for eight years and I gave it all.”

Asked on his future at the club, he admitted there was no update: “In a very polite way, no.”

This has led to fans fearing the worst and that it is a sign he will be leaving the club.

One wrote on X: “We’re not ready for a goodbye just yet, Mohamed.”

Another added: “Ouch ouch ouch this sounds like a good bye.”

A third said: “It would be unforgivable if Salah leaves at the end of the season.”

He has frequently spoken out on the lack of progress from the club, with fans concerned that he could be one of three stars leaving in the summer.

Himself, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are the trio who are all out of contract this summer, with Alexander-Arnold attracting interest from Real Madrid in what seems to be closing in on a done deal.

Salah however, is on track to register his best-ever scoring season in the Premier League.

His best return came in his first season at Liverpool, netting 32 goals in the 2017/18 campaign, but there still remains 11 games to play.

With his track record so far, Salah could top and tail his Liverpool career with the two most successful league campaigns of his life, with many tipping him to win the Ballon d’Or.

Salah’s new comments have sparked fears among Liverpool fans

“Let’s win the Premier League and the Champions League! Because the Ballon d’Or, everybody knows sometimes [other] stuff involved there.”

On whether this is his best season, he agreed: “So far, I think this is my best season because I make the players around me better as well. That’s what I feel. I know their games.

“All the numbers around all the players are going to be higher than other seasons. Plus my assists are higher which means I’m really helping them a lot.”

Having scored 30 goals and 21 assists across all competitions so far, he recently matched a feat held by Lionel Messi at Barcelona; scoring and assisting in the same game on 11+ occasions this season.

He also became the first player ever to register 25+ goals and 15+ assists in a Premier League season. And he’s the first in Premier League history to be involved in 40+ goals in two different seasons.

Liverpool take on Newcastle on Wednesday night at Anfield in a bid to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

They will be without boss Arne Slot, however, who begins his two-match touchline ban as punishment for confronting match officials at the end of the Everton game.

Slot was also fined £70,000 along with his assistant Sipke Hulshoff who is also banned for two matches and fined £7,000.
