Myles Garrett has requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns.
In a statement released Monday, 2023 Defensive Player of the Year Brown cited his desired to win as a reason for wanting out of the organization.
“As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl — and that goal fuels me today more than ever,” Garrett wrote on social media.
“My love for the community of Northeast Ohio and the incredible fanbase of the Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decisions of my life. These past eight years have shaped me into the man that I am today.
“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl.
“With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”
Garrett is a freak athlete if ever there was one.
The Cleveland Browns defensive end is a pass rushing beast and one of the most feared defenders in the NFL.
His workout with LeBron James is testament to how highly respected he is.
The 6ft 4in, 272lb juggernaut has been named to six Pro Bowls and four first-team All-Pros since being drafted first overall by the Browns in 2017.
Although he’s blessed with God-given talent and physical attributes, he wouldn’t be where he is today without an obsessive approach to diet and fitness.
Before the 2023 season began, the NFL shared a behind-the-scenes look at the team of personal health and performance specialists behind Garrett’s bespoke off-season training regime.
The demonstrative edge rusher has an amazing team of specialists around him who educate him on sleep, physical fitness, health, recovery, and diet.
These specialists include personal trainers, nutritionists, physical therapists, and a personal chef who all maximise Myles’ potential.
“It was my fourth year when I really decided I needed a team that can really maximise my talents,” Garrett said. “Consulting experts and specialists is invaluable – health is worth its weight in gold.”
SLEEP IS KEY
A typical day for the Browns star starts at 6:30am.
“When I’m well rested I feel like I see everything,” Garrett says of his sleep pattern, which he has honed in on in recent times after “feeling like I was having to overcome bad rest and sleep habits.”
“Sleep is the biggest driver of your mental and physical and emotional wellness”, he says.

‘Flash’ will then have breakfast at around 8:00am cooked by his private chef.
When the footage was filmed, Garrett was trying to lean out, which meant cutting back on carbs with veggies, leafy greens, and extra protein.
With that said, his approach to diet hasn’t always been clean. The Texas native has a weakness for French toast, waffles and pancakes, but tries to limit their intake for cheat days only.
I LOVE BREAKFAST
“Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day,” he told GQ in November. “So some waffles, French toast or pancakes and biscuits. Just having the whole assortment and just going after it. That’s my cheat meal. I don’t have cheat days. It will be a huge breakfast and then l’ll dial it down for dinner.
In 2019, he also professed his love for Tomahawk steaks and racks of ribs.
“For dinner, we’re going to get some steak and ribs,” he told ESPN. “Timber Lodge. It’s the best ribs you’ll have. That’s a promise. I can eat three racks and still eat more dinner. If I got practice the next day, I’m going to cool it, eat two racks. That might be my dinner with a side of vegetables.
“But if I don’t have anything the next day, I can eat three racks, eat a Tomahawk steak with some mashed potatoes and a couple broccoli. I’ll drink a couple glasses of water for lunch. Honestly, I just need two big meals”.
However, it seems Garrett’s days of gorging on steak and ribs are over as he focuses on smaller meals consisting of lower calories.
WORKOUT
“I’m going to have a glass of water in the morning, a banana, finish a Gatorlyte, and go work out,” he said.
“I’ll have a smoothie and then I’ll get home and shower. I’ll have an omelet, fruit, maybe some toast, orange juice, and more water.
“For lunch, I’ll usually just have a snack. It’s probably some fruit, some pretzels, or a nutrition bar. Dinner is usually some chicken or some type of fish with potatoes, corn, green beans, or couscous. It’s something light like that because I don’t want to go to sleep on a heavy meal. I’ll make sure to have water with the last meal. Very rarely is there a late-night snack.”
After polishing off breakfast, the DE will jump straight into a workout with his athletic performance coach.
Early in the day they like to focus on precise, quality movement before moving into a dynamic workout at 9:30am which is geared towards getting Myles’ heart-rate up.
10:00am will see Garrett move into acceleration drills with spikes which helps manage soreness so he’s not in pain before heading into training camp.
At 12:00pm Myles heads into the gym where he gets into a strength workout, zeroing in on heavier lifts, power work, and uncomfortable positions while under fatigue.
The NFL star has spoken about his workout regime in the past, which consists of all sorts of exercises including deadlifts, medicine ball slams, landmine presses, back squats, box jumps, bench presses, barbell rows, kettlebell swings, goblet squats, pull-ups, battle ropes, and more.
FEEL THE POWER
Garrett is well-known for being a power athlete and was once spotted deadlifting 655 pounds for a set of three reps and bench pressing a 450 pounds during a workout.
As a result, Garrett has one of the most impressive physiques in all of professional sports.
He stripped off for ESPN’s 2019 Body Issue and proudly showed off his Adonis-like physique.
“I’m always striving for more and I always want to look like a Grecian God. I want to be at my best physical appearance just to know that I’m using all my God-given abilities,” he said.
Following a workout, Garrett has a wellness team meeting at 2:00pm where he and his team discuss how to enhance his physical and mental well-being while giving back to the community.
The Pro Bowler will eat at 6:00pm before having a light meal at 8:00pm made up of mostly veggies and minimal protein.
At 9:00pm Garrett will get on the treatment table for physical therapy and recovery work.
Myles is a big advocate of Pilates, and will also do some stretching – mostly with his neck and spine – which helps him wind down his nervous system before bed.
Keeping the Browns icon in elite condition is a full time job in and of itself, but one that is bearing fruit on the field.
And it’s clear he’s just getting started.
“My body feels the best its felt in years,” he says.
What a frightening prospect for the rest of the NFL.
