OpenHollywood star breaks unwritten rule at Golden Globes to watch Lions-Vikings

Nothing was going to stop actor Dax Shepard from watching his Lions clinch the one seed, not even the Golden Globes.

Shepard broke the unwritten rule of staying off your phone during one of Hollywood’s biggest ceremonies to watch his team.

On one of the biggest nights in showbiz, Sheppard’s mind was elsewhere

He didn’t care.

The Detroit native had to watch his Lions in their biggest game of the season.

Shepard’s wife, actress Kristin Bell, posted a video on social media of Shepard watching the game on his phone while the ceremony was going on.

Shepard was locked in.

He didn’t care who was on stage.

He cared if his Lions were going to get the one seed and win the division, or if they would have to go on the road next week for a playoff game.

Fortunately for Shepard, the Lions throttled the Vikings 31-9, leaving no doubt who the best team in the NFC is.

For the first time in Detroit’s long history, they earned the number one seed in the NFC.

The Lions finished the regular season with a franchise best 15-2 record, an achievement that head coach Dan Campbell knew was possible with this group of players.

“To me, this has been in the making for a while,” Campbell said after the game.

“It takes a special group of guys, and I think you kind of had to go through what we’ve been through over the last four years, the core of this unit.

“And then everybody that comes in, they fall in line because that’s what we’re built around is our core.

“They really delivered for us today. Our playmakers made plays when we needed it.”

They also won back-to-back NFC North division titles for the first time ever.

It was a season of a lot firsts, but quarterback Jared Goff knows they still have a ways to go if they want to reach their ultimate goal.

“It’s step one,” Goff said.

“We’re proud to be 15-2, NFC North division champs back-to-back, one seed, bye week, all that stuff.

We’re proud of it, but this is just tick number one. Check. And tick number two is next.”

What’s next is a first-round bye and waiting to see who they will face in the divisional round.

They are just two home wins away from their first ever Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.

And luckily for Shepard, there aren’t any award shows that Sunday.
