UTTOXETER
2.45: Resplendent Grey 3/1 (1.5pts)
3.55: Lac De Constance 5/1 Each-way (1.5pts)

Resplendent Grey

Ike Sport was hit with a huge 9lb rise when winning at Sandown in Class 2 company at 22/1 in April.

He did show that rise wouldn’t completely stop him as he followed it up with a decent third at Market Rasen in June, despite also losing the 7lb claimer, effectively being upped 16lb.

The Spanish Moon gelding carries top weight here and could be a great chance for Sam Twiston-Davies to get another winner with a great streak of wins in the last two weeks on this chaser debutant.

Resplendent Grey is also right up there though, with a big win here over course and distance but over hurdles in May and faces a 7lb rise.

Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen enjoy a lot of winners together and this horse has shaped as though fences will be easy as he even gets his ideal softer conditions.

Lac De Constance

A hurdler, Ballybegg, also has form with with Resplendent Grey last time out, placing a fair bit back from the grey back in May.

But he’s gone down 5lb in the weights as a result making him 7lb better off than when he came a close 2nd over course and distance on his second last hurdle start back in May 2023.

The gelding doesn’t have great form when returning from a break though, so he’s probably still best watched here.

Tamar Bridge will have to pull out a race of the year to win on the back of a 698 day break more than double the time Dargiannini has been off the track.

The latter of which is the top-rated, course and distance winner and favourite.

But it does seem to be a bit of a theme in this race for horses making their long awaited return.

Lac De Constance does have that form aside from two starts ago when 5th behind Crambo but of course that form has worked out really well.

And this eight-year-old grey is nudged down another 3lb despite going well in third at Haydock last time and could bounce back for the successful hurdle Skelton duo.
