Dr. Alexander Kampikaho, the pioneer and former Rukiga District LCV Chairman, suffered a double defeat in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party structure elections in Mparo Town Council.

In the race for the Mparo Town Council NRM Chairperson seat, Dr. Kampikaho lost to Amed Bende, the incumbent District Councillor representing the area. Only three people lined up behind Kampikaho, while Bende secured a commanding 123 votes.

After the loss, Dr. Kampikaho contested for the Town Council’s NRM Vice Chairperson seat but again lost—this time to Joy Tumushabe, the incumbent Mparo Town Council Speaker. Kampikaho polled 43 votes, while Tumushabe received 78.

Following their victories, both Bende and Tumushabe called on residents to embrace unity and work together for the peace and development of Mparo Town Council.

Charity Natukunda, the NRM Returning Officer for Mparo Town Council, described the election as peaceful.
