Big-time boxing comes to us from Manchester this weekend as British heavyweight Derek Chisora takes on super Swede Otto Wallin.
The pair clash over ten rounds on a star-studded card from legendary boxing promoter Frank Warren at the Co-op Live Arena on Saturday. You can follow all the action live on TNT Sports.
WAR Chisora makes his highly anticipated return to the ring following a seven-month layoff. It could be his final appearance before retiring from the fight game, but after scoring back-to-back wins against high-ranking opponents, the treble could push Derek back up the rankings and into title contention.
Former professional boxer and respected betting writer Frankie Monkhouse previews the action, highlights the best odds, and offers hard-hitting predictions.

I’ll now highlight my favourite boxing betting market available on the Betfred website and smartphone app: the method of victory. With this option, you’re tasked with predicting both the winning fighter and how he’ll achieve the result: by knockout or on points.

WAR wants a treble
Derek Chisora will duck between the ropes on fight night as a veteran of the sport. His professional boxing record details 35 wins against 13 defeats, with 23 wins coming inside the distance and four KO losses. The 41-year-old Londoner is currently ranked seventh in a list of active UK heavyweights and 17th in the world. An impressive win on Saturday would improve his standing in both charts.
Chisora’s most recent defeat was inflicted by former world champion Tyson Fury at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium just over two years ago. Since the Gypsy King ended their WBC title clash in round ten, WAR has fought twice and scored back-to-back points wins. He landed a surprise victory over American Gerald Washington after ten rounds and did the same to fellow Brit Joe Joyce, flooring the Juggernaut in round nine.
Those wins over respected opponents proved there’s much more to Chisora’s game than punch power. He’s a warrior with the skills to box his way to victory or the power in both hands to end things early.

Wallin in Manchester to spoil the party
Followers of heavyweight boxing may remember Otto Wallin from his meeting with Anthony Joshua in December 2023 in Saudi Arabia. AJ was expected to make light work of the man from Sweden and had no problems living up to the pre-fight hype, scoring a stunning stoppage before the end of round five.
Wallin travels from his base in New York with 27 wins on his record against two defeats. Interestingly, both losses came against British opposition, first beaten on points over 12 rounds by Tyson Fury before that early night against Anthony Joshua. Despite winning that fight, Tyson suffered a horrific cut above his right eye that required 47 stitches.
Otto has 15 KOs on his record but has scored only one inside-the-distance win since the summer of 2020. The spare stoppage came in his most recent appearance when dealing with Nigerian Onoriode Ehwarieme. Impressive, until you learn Godzilla has been halted five times already, including an early KO in each of his previous three bouts.

Chisora vs Wallin betting tips
The scene is set for Chisora vs Wallin, and it’s now down to the gladiators to put on a show for an expectant audience. But who will win, how will they get the result, and which betting markets give us the best chance of landing a profit while we watch the slugfest? Keep reading as I highlight my two best bets for Saturday.
Over 8.5 rounds – 2/5 (Betfred)
Our first pick on Chisora vs Wallin is for the fight to last more than 8.5 rounds. The odds available at Betfred suggest it’s a play best suited to your weekend sports multiples or fight night accumulators, and the stats suggest we’re in with a good shout of taking a profit.
Each of Chisora’s last seven bouts have lasted ten rounds or more, a run stretching back to a fourth-round TKO win over David Price at the O2 Arena in Greenwich in 2019. Derek appears fitter than ever in the later stages of his career, and despite his frightening power and 66% knockout ratio, he’s happy pacing himself and lasting the distance.
When following my pick and betting on this fight to go beyond 8.5 rounds, it doesn’t matter who wins or how they get the result. If the fight makes it to round nine or later, your betting balance will receive a welcome boost.

Chisora by KO/TKO
Despite predicting Saturday’s bout to make it to the later rounds, I think there’s value in backing Chisora by knockout at great odds. The Londoner will be roared on by a passionate and supportive crowd eager to see their favourite continue winning and causing upsets in the heavyweight division.
He may be slowing in his forties, but Chisora’s natural power and strength are undeniable. He’s an entertainer and will be desperate to put on a show for his adoring public. WAR hasn’t won by KO/TKO for over five years, but Saturday is a chance to impress. If this is to be his final appearance, he’ll want to sign off in style.
Back the underdog to win by knockout, and you’ll have a chance of landing a big win as long as Derek is in the contest. We’ve seen him secure early KO wins and leave it late, stopping opponents near the end following a sustained attack. Chisora by stoppage is a great bet with excellent odds and a solid chance of coming good. Good luck if you follow.
Bet on Derek Chisora to win by KO/TKO at 10/3 with Betfred
