Dave Bautista is one of WWE’s biggest success stories.

Not only did he carve out a legendary professional wrestling career under the ring name Batista, he then went on to take his talents to Hollywood.

In WWE, he was a six-time world heavyweight champion who headlined WrestleMania in two different decades.

He was also part of one of the most iconic stables of all time, Evolution.

After stepping away from sports entertainment, Bautista pursued a career in the movies, and has become a household name after starring in blockbusters including Guardian of the Galaxy, Spectre and Dune.

He’s now estimated to be worth a whopping $20 million thanks to his wrestling and acting careers, as well as various entrepreneurial endeavours.

In recent weeks, Bautista has revealed the best financial advice he ever received, and it came from a fellow WWE legend.

“I had a mentor named Triple H and there were a couple of things he said to me that always stuck with me,” Batista told The School of Hark Knocks.

“One of the things was when I first got there, I was so afraid…I didn’t want to p*** people off. It was a hierarchy thing and I was so afraid of being disrespectful.

“He said, ‘Look man, you want to make money or you want to make friends? This is a business. You have to look at it like a business. You’re a business.’ I always thought about myself as my own commodity. I am my brand.

“Another thing he said, ‘Always imagine that everybody is pointing a gun at your head. It’s up to you how many bullets you give them.’”

It’s perhaps not too surprising that Triple H was the one to offer Bautista his best advice.

Their WWE careers were intertwined thanks to their days in Evolution and it was “The Game” who retired Batista at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.

During that feud, Batista delivered his famous “give me what I want” demand to Triple H, which has since become one of the most iconic lines in WWE history.

The pair then put their careers on the line in a no holds barred match at WrestleMania, which Batista lost after interference from another of his former Evolution stablemates, Ric Flair.

He announced his retirement the following day with an emotional message to WWE fans.

“Thank you for letting me entertain you. I love this business and whether you cheered me or jeered me, I’m grateful for being a small part of your life,” he wrote on X, formally Twitter, back in 2019.

“I am officially retired from sports entertainment and I am grateful for every second of my amazing journey.”
