OpenChampions League contenders step up Marcus Rashford pursuit following face-to-face talks with Manchester United star

AC Milan have intensified their pursuit of Marcus Rashford, talkSPORT understands.

The Italian giants held initial face-to-face talks with Rashford’s camp earlier this week and are keen to sign the England international on loan.

As previously reported by talkSPORT, United have accepted they will not be able to sell Rashford this month due to his wage demands.

Rashford is believed to earn roughly £300,000-a-week after signing a mega-money contract extension in July 2023 following his 30-goal season.

Since revealing in December he is ready for a ‘new challenge’, he has not played a single minute for Ruben Amorim’s side.

The 27-year-old has no shortage of suitors, with Borussia Dortmund and Juventus also admirers of the player.

Meanwhile West Ham have asked to be kept informed of Rashford’s situation at the Theatre of Dreams.

However it is Milan that are pushing the hardest to secure his services in their quest to shoot up the Serie A table.

Milan, who have won four out of their six Champions League group matches this term, currently sit eighth in the Italian top-flight table.

A disastrous Serie A season so far has left them 17 points off leaders Napoli, but there is renewed optimism at the San Siro following Sergio Conceicao’s appointment.

The ex-Porto boss has won both of his opening two matches in charge of the Rossoneri – helping Milan recently scoop the Italian Super Cup.

And should Rashford link up with Milan, he would become the latest England international in the squad.

Rashford has struggled for consistency when relied upon this season

Felllow Three Lions stars Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham are two key players at the club.

Meanwhile Ruben Loftus-Cheek is another fan favourite, though the midfielder is currently out injured.

It remains to be seen where Rashford would fit in should he join Milan this month.

A natural left winger, he would compete for a starting spot with Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic.

Meanwhile should he be tasked with leading the line, both Alvaro Morata and Abraham would stand in his way of regular game time.

Along with Milan and Juventus, Napoli have also been credited with an interest in Rashford, with the possibility of Victor Osimhen joining United in a swap deal.

Rashford has already rejected offers to join the Saudi Pro League in the hope of reviving his England career.

And he knows he must be playing regularly if he wishes to be in contention for selection at the World Cup in 2026.
