‘Bright talent’ – Derek Chisora’s nephew leaves fans impressed with dominant win on uncle’s undercard

EntertainmentSports‘Bright talent’ – Derek Chisora’s nephew leaves fans impressed with dominant win on uncle’s undercard

Derek Chisora’s nephew Jermaine Dhliwayo has extended his unbeaten record by beating Mark Butler on points.

Dhliwayo fought on the undercard of his uncle and British heavyweight fan favourite Chisora’s undercard, prior to the main event at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester on Saturday night.

The young talent had already fought four times in his professional career and has had an unbeaten start to life in the sport.

He previously laced up his gloves at London’s O2 Arena on his debut which he made on the undercard of his uncle’s victory over Joe Joyce in July last year.

And the 23-year-old boxed to a dominant shut-out victory and left those watching excited for his future.

‘God’s Plan’ saw the referee score the contest at 42-36 and hand him his fifth professional win.

Liam Cameron was on commentary and remarked: “He’s a bright young talent.”

A fan added: “He looks extremely talented. Still very young but a great showing.”

The opening round saw fans having yet to flock to the arena yet, but it was still a great platform the young nephew of Chisora to impress.

He boxed well early on in the first of four rounds, taking centre ring in the southpaw stance and landing some neat early shots including a well-time backhand.

Butler was tough but was struggling early on and faced some swelling on his face after the powerful shots and crisp jab found their target.

He was determined to fight back though and gave what he was given, throwing his own shots but it didn’t in any way face the young star’s dominance.

Dhliwayo went through the gears in the fourth stanza where he started to rock his rival in the final period.

But unfortunately he was unable to close the show, but banked the rounds, and showed he could be a real prospect for the future.

Chisora himself has a huge opportunity to launch an unlikely assault at world level after his clash with Otto Wallin.

He faced widespread calls to retire, but his clash with the Swede emerged as an IBF world eliminator.

And Spencer Oliver, former boxer and Chisora’s friend insists he deserves to go all the way and defy the odds at the age of 41.

He told talkSPORT.com: “He is 41-years-old now, but he has become a bit of a national treasure, so he’s earned it.

“He’s boxed for a world title twice in elite fighters, so why not? I like the idea of that.

“He deserves it, but it is crazy, it could be an eliminator with Bakole and Ajagba fighting for that spot as well.

“And guess what if Chisora and Bakole come through, that could be the fight that happens in Africa.”
