Conor Gallagher has gone from pinging passes to singing on stage as he proved to be pitch perfect off it as well as on it.
The 25-year-old belted out a rendition of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’ as part of an unusual initiative for Atletico Madrid.
Signed from Chelsea for £36million last summer, Gallagher has become a fan favourite at the Wanda Metropolitano.
And in a video that has gone viral, he’s shown he could have a career in music away from football once he hangs up his boots.
Donning a leather jacket and jeans, Gallagher was all smiles as he featured alongside a band where he looked right at home.
His impressive performance is part of a content series from Atletico as part of their partnership with Spanish lager brand Mahou Cinco Estrellas.
Gallagher has followed teammate Rodrigo Riquelme in getting up on stage following the defender’s singing session earlier in the season.
Meanwhile Atleti’s women’s star Gio Garbelini and Andrea Medina have also dueted together.
Atletico are keen for aspiring musicians to feel inspired by their heroes in their quest to find the next singing sensations.
Musical talents are being encouraged to send videos of themselves performing through the club’s website.
The winners would then be invited to record a track in their studios.
And the lucky few candidates would then be given the opportunity to perform at their 70,962-seater stadium.
It’s been a solid start for Gallagher since swapping England for Spain, where he has appeared in 30 matches in all competitions.
He even scooped Atleti’s September Player of the Month award following a number of dazzling displays.
Having initially established himself as a key player under Diego Simeone, his game time has been limited so far during the second half of the season.
Gallagher has not played more than 45 minutes in a LaLiga match in 2025.
And the last time he completed a match came in November.
Though he has still played his part in helping Atletico sit third in the table, where they are one point behind leaders Barcelona.
Despite being a popular figure with the club’s fans, Gallagher has been subject to criticism from the Spanish media in the last week.
But the player will be hoping to do his talking on the pitch as he looks to end his his maiden season in Spain with silverware.
