If golf doesn’t work out for him, Bryson DeChambeau already has a solid career lined up as a social media influencer.
The two-time US Open winner has left his competitors in the dust when it comes to marketing himself online, attracting a whole world of new golfing fans to his Instagram and YouTube.
DeChambeau let one lucky fan take on his now legendary challenge[/caption]
In July he took his YouTube game to a whole new level by facing off against recently re-elected US president Donald Trump in his ‘Break 50’ challenge which has since garnered a mammoth 13million views.
Yet one of his more recent challenges fascinated followers more than any other, as the American attempted to hit a hole in one over his house, and took his time doing it.
DeChambeau took 16 days to finally land the shot, and even those without the slightest interest in golf were fascinated as he racked up tens of millions of views.
The question then became, how does he follow that up? Well the 31-year-old has worked his magic once more.
After a series of challenges in his most recent release, DeChambeau gave one lucky amateur called Jimmy the chance to try the hole in one over his house, and rather incredibly he made it look easy.
Being invited to a multi-millionaire’s luxury pad and given the opportunity to shoot balls just over it should have been a treat enough, but Jimmy managed to exceed all expectations by making the 100 yard shot in his fifth attempt, compared to the pro’s 134.
And to demonstrate just how unexpected it was, DeChambeau and his crew had given the fan seven hours to try and master the challenge.
Achieving such a feat wasn’t for nothing either, as Jimmy received $100,000 for his efforts.
DeChambeau didn’t mind parting with his cash, though, as he leapt on his new friend in wild celebrations seconds after they heard the words “IT’S IN!” shouted down from the rooftop.
Jimmy had already expressed his confidence beforehand, saying he thought he could do it by 3 o’clock with an 10am start.
However, despite DeChambeau guessing at five hours and 43 minutes, it took him less than seven minutes.
All of this came with some early nerves too as he asked DeChambeau: “What happens if I break a window?”
Explaining beforehand, the American said: “I think there are going to be some ups and downs throughout this challenge.
“He’s not going to be able to know how far to hit it, what’s a 95 yard shot?
“As we start telling him where the balls are landing and how it’s going he’ll start to get the flow of it.
“And then about three hours in he’ll start struggling and his back will start helping but at the 43 minute mark he’ll finally get it done.”
Yet it was clear things were going to go better than expected as DeChambeau told Jimmy his first shot was on “the perfect line.”
After the event the sporting star didn’t feel too bad about being shown up either, saying: “You kicked my butt bro! That’s so sick. How did that go in!”
And Jimmy summed up the mood perfectly by saying: “This is up there with my wedding day. Don’t tell my wife!” who he then called to reveal the good news.
All of that meant that DeChambeau probably wasn’t too unhappy about parting with six figures, and at least he could let the camera crew and social media team head home six hours earlier than expected.
