Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is on an all-time heater.
A heater, that no one else in NFL history has ever been on.
Burrow became the first quarterback to throw for 250+ yards and 3+ touchdowns in seven consecutive games.
The previous record was six, held by Tom Brady.
Burrow has now bested Brady.
The Bengals franchise quarterback broke the record in a 24-6 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
The win helped keep their slim playoff chances alive.
Cincinnati now sits at 7-8 with two games left to go.
They have a massive tilt with the team they are fighting the last playoff spot for, on Saturday at home against the Denver Broncos, before finishing up at Pittsburgh.
They need to win both to have even a remote chance.
If Burrow keeps playing the way he’s playing, anything is possible.
Burrow has 4,229 yards and 39 touchdowns.
It is a Cincinnati franchise record for most touchdowns thrown in a season, passing his own previous record of 35.
He is playing at an MVP-level and would be firmly in the discussion to take home the award, if his team had a winning record.
Head coach Zac Taylor complimented his quarterback after the game, crediting his cadence, which helped lead to a free play and deep touchdown pass to Ja’Marr Chase.
“It’s the ultimate weapon,” Taylor said. “He really is the best in the business.”
Burrow also tied Hall of Famer Dan Marino for the fourth longest streak in NFL history of seven straight games with 3+ passing touchdowns (yards aside).
The only longer streaks, belong to Brady with ten, and Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck both with 8.
Wide receiver Tee Higgins complimented his star quarterback after the game, comparing him to a certain superhero.
“Forget the Batmobile,” Higgins said. “That mother f**** flying now. He’s Superman.”
Superman indeed.
The Bengals will be hoping he has two more Superman-worthy performances left, to drag this Cincinnati squad somehow into the postseason.
