Housing Finance Bank Launches Business Clinics to Empower Women and Small Businesses

Local NewsHousing Finance Bank Launches Business Clinics to Empower Women and Small Businesses

Housing Finance Bank has officially launched the HFB Business Clinics, a transformative initiative designed to foster sustainable business growth for Ugandan women and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The clinics aim to provide expert advisory services, tailored financial solutions, and practical business insights to support entrepreneurs at every stage of development.

The inaugural session, held under the theme “Women in Business”, brought together dynamic female entrepreneurs for a day of empowerment, learning, and networking. Participants were equipped with essential business management skills—ranging from supervision and record-keeping to sustainable practices and marketing strategies. These are foundational elements for building resilient and thriving enterprises.

Speaking at the launch, Peace Ayebazibwe, Executive Director of Housing Finance Bank, emphasized the power of collaboration among women in business:

“We encourage all women to support one another, share experiences, and work together to overcome challenges. By doing so, we create new opportunities and drive inclusive economic growth,” she said.

Ayebazibwe also acknowledged Uganda’s strong entrepreneurial spirit and reiterated the Bank’s commitment to sustainability and inclusivity:

“At Housing Finance Bank, we recognize the distinct barriers many women encounter when it comes to accessing financial services and trusted guidance. Our HFB Business Clinics are designed to bridge those gaps—especially for those without traditional forms of collateral—empowering Ugandans to unlock their potential to nurture and grow their businesses exponentially.”

The inaugural clinic was marked by powerful testimonies, meaningful peer learning, and a shared determination to drive change in Uganda’s business landscape. By equipping entrepreneurs with knowledge and access to finance, Housing Finance Bank is taking a bold step toward building a financially literate and inclusive economy.

Looking ahead, the Bank plans to roll out the HFB Business Clinics nationwide, tailoring each session to the unique needs of various business segments—from youth-led startups and agribusinesses to small manufacturers and local traders. The target is to equip over 1,000 small businesses across Uganda by 2025.

This initiative aligns with Uganda Vision 2040 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focused on gender equality, economic growth, and financial inclusion.

The HFB Business Clinics are also backed by strategic financial support. Housing Finance Bank recently received €50 million from the European Investment Bank (EIB), which is focused on financing women-led and women-focused enterprises. An additional UGX 5 billion from the Uganda Energy Credit Capitalization Company (UECCC) will support the adoption of renewable energy solutions such as solar and biogas. The Government of Uganda is also contributing funds to support large-scale farmers with interest-free agricultural credit, aimed at boosting regional food security.

Through the HFB Business Clinics, Housing Finance Bank continues to lead with purpose—financing a sustainable future for all. The initiative is a testament to the power of meaningful partnerships and knowledge-sharing in uplifting communities and creating ripple effects that drive national development.
