Bournemouth make the trip east across the south coast as marginal favourites for victory on Tuesday night but will need to bounce back to winning ways after suffering a surprise 1-0 defeat at home to Wolves on Saturday afternoon.
Defeat on the weekend ended the Cherries’ run of just one defeat in their last 15 matches in all competitions, but Andoni Iraola’s side remain unbeaten in their last eight league games away from home ahead of their visit to Sussex this week.
The Dorset side dropped to sixth in the Premier League table as a result of their loss, but remain only a point outside the top four in what has been a hugely successful season for them so far.
Brighton, meanwhile, made it three victories on the spin in their weekend clash, another all-south coast affair, at Southampton on Saturday afternoon, winning 4-0.
The victory saw Fabian Hurzeler’s side climb up to ninth place in the Premier League table, but are only three points behind their Tuesday night opponents and just four outside the Champions League qualification positions.
The Seagulls have won six of their last eight matches in all competitions, with only two defeats in their last 12, and head into Tuesday having won four of their last five matches against Bournemouth, and each of their last three at the Amex.
