The first half of Manchester City’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid was a dear do for one club legend.

That’s because Sergio Aguero had placed a $10,000 bet on the clash at the Etihad Stadium.

While Pep Guardiola’s side were left cheering when Erling Haaland put them ahead, Aguero will have been cursing his luck with the Norwegian striker’s effort the only goal to go in during the first half.

Aguero was clearly very invested in the game that that was due to his club allegiance.

The 36-year-old spent ten years with Man City and scored an impressive 260 goals in 390 games for his club.

He then went on to play for Real Madrid’s fierce rivals – Barcelona – where he scored one goal in his five games before retiring.

That strike came in the biggest game possible, netting in a 2-1 El Clasico defeat against Los Blancos.

It meant that when it came to predicting the outcome of the Champions League clash between Man City and Real Madrid, Aguero was prepared to put some serious skin in the game.

Speaking on the Som I Serem FCB Podcast, he predicted: “Real Madrid cannot beat Man City.

“If they beat City, I will cut off my testicles.”

Responding to Aguero’s promise, Daniel Sturridge admired the Man City legend’s level of confidence.

He said: “I’m sceptical of that spectacle.

“It doesn’t sound good to me!

“I’m not that confident but fair play to you Sergio man, do you thing, brother!”

Despite early opportunities for Real Madrid, it was City who held the lead at half-time when Erling Haaland netted his first-ever goal against the Spanish giants.

But Carlo Ancelotti’s side came again in the second half and leveled the game thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s sliced effort.
