‘It felt weird’ – Jason Kelce responds to fan after New Heights account deletes Eagles Super Bowl post

Jason Kelce has responded to a fan following controversy around a Super Bowl post from his New Heights podcast on X.

Last Sunday’s big game was played between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, two teams the Kelce family know very well.

Jason spent his entire NFL career with Philadelphia, winning Super Bowl LII himself back in 2018, before retiring in 2023.

His brother Travis, meanwhile, still plays for the Chiefs and was looking to make history with a third-straight title in New Orleans.

With Philadelphia and Kansas City going head-to-head in the Super Bowl, there was plenty of discussion around which team members of the Kelce family would be cheering for.

In the end, it was the Eagles that came out on top with a 40-22 win.

Post-game, the New Heights podcast, the Kelce brothers’ award-winning show, shared a message of congratulations on X.

Considering both Kelce brothers host the podcast on a weekly basis, congratulating Jason’s former team certainly seemed fair, even if their win came against Travis and his teammates.

The post, which featured a number of images of Jason from his days with the Eagles, was captioned: “Congrats to all our Birds fans and Jason’s Eagles teammates on an incredible season.”

While the message seemed harmless enough, it apparently didn’t go down well with everyone that saw it, and a number of people were said to have left ‘rude’ comments on the post.

It was deleted shortly thereafter, and some who noticed the post had vanished accused Taylor Swift fans of ‘bullying’ the account into removing its post.

Swift, of course, is dating Travis, who was on the losing side in the Super Bowl.

However, those who pointed the finger at Swifties for the post being taken down were actually incorrect, as Jason has now cleared up the situation.

After congratulating the Eagles on his personal account, one fan suggested that the New Heights social media team taking down their message was ‘very strange’.

That prompted a reply from the NFL legend, who explained why it was removed.

“I had Jake take that graphic down because that post had too many pictures of me,” Jason said.

“I wanted the post to be reflective of the guys who just won, not me.

“I didn’t win s*** in this one, it felt weird to congratulate this team with a bunch of pictures of me.”

While Jason was rightly able to congratulate his former team on their Super Bowl win, at least on his personal account, that certainly doesn’t mean he’s forgotten about his brother.

In a lengthy post on X, he detailed the range of emotions he felt throughout Sunday.

“That game was odd for me to watch if I’m being completely honest. I knew it was going to be mixed emotions before, during, and after,” Jason wrote.

“As for my brother, there isn’t a person I love or care about more. It has been tough to process these feelings, of course I feel for him and am always rooting for him, but I know he does not need, nor want my pity.

“He has amassed greatness few on this planet could ever dream of, as has his team, and they should feel pride in their accomplishments this season and in the past.

“I know right now they are still thinking of last night and the shortcomings in the last game, But in time that will fade, and the greatness they have exhibited as a group will remain as one of the most dominant eras of football ever.”
