Vancouver Canucks at San Jose Sharks predictions
Backstopping the Canucks to victory was the first start of the game, Thatcher Demko. The American netminder stopped all 25 shots he faced, cataloging his ninth career shutout. It’s been a subpar return from injury for Demko, posting a 3.03 GAA and a .882 save percentage.
One of the moving pieces in last week’s NHL blockbuster trade, Filip Chytil has settled in nicely in a Canucks sweater. The 25-year-old has collected two points in as many games since joining Vancouver. Chytil has 380 regular season games under his belt, amassing 166 career points.
The Canucks leading goal-getter, Jake DeBrusk lit the lamp on Tuesday against Colorado. After going goalless in 11 straight, DeBrusk has gathered two in his last three outings. The winger has stockpiled 19 goals in his debut season with the Canucks, currently tying him 44th overall in the NHL.
The Sharks prized rookie, Macklin Celebrini logged a multipoint shift against the Canadiens on Tuesday. The Vancouver native currently sits second overall in the rookie scoring race, one point behind Lane Hutson of Montreal. Celebrini has sniped 17 goals so far while piling up 39 points in 43 appearances.
One of San Jose’s veteran players, Tyler Toffoli, contributed to the stat sheet in his team’s losing effort. The 32-year-old jotted down his 19th tally of the year, which puts him as this season’s leading goal scorer for the Sharks. In his 13th NHL season, Toffoli has accumulated 555 points.
Vancouver Canucks at San Jose Sharks tip
When these two opponents encounter each other, they have fabricated some high-scoring affairs. We feel in Thursday’s tilt this trend will continue with the recent tendency this matchup provides, which is overs.
When the Canucks visit the SAP Center, seven of the last eight trips have ensued the over wager cashing in. Between the two overall, the over has taken place in 12 of their last 14 skirmishes, further providing that these two play an open style of hockey when they link up.
Individually each team is generating solid numbers to back the over. Overall six of the seven contests have featured games going over the total for San Jose. On the other hand for Vancouver, four of their last five road affairs have prompted the over registering. Our feeling is to back the over 5.5 goals in this Thursday nightcap.
