Tottenham could become Mohamed Salah’s favourite opponents on Thursday night.

The Liverpool forward will face Spurs at Anfield in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

Salah will be key to his side’s chances of overturning their first leg deficit.

Spurs won last month’s opening leg 1-0 in north London thanks to Lucas Bergvall’s late strike.

However, the contest remains in the balance ahead of the second 90 minutes on Merseyside.

It could also prove to be a historic night for Salah if he can get on the scoresheet more than once.

The 32-year-old currently has 14 goals in 22 matches against Spurs during his career.

Only Manchester United have conceded more goals to Salah, with the Egyptian scoring 16 times against the Red Devils.

His strikes against Spurs have come for Basel, Chelsea, Fiorentina and Liverpool, including two goals in the Premier League clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December.

Salah also scored against Thursday’s opponents at Anfield back in May.

A brace on Thursday night would see Spurs tied with United as his favourite opponents, whilst a hat-trick would move them clear by one goal.

As well as his scoring record, Salah has also won 13 of his 22 meetings with Spurs, losing only four times in total.

The winner of the tie will face either Newcastle or Arsenal in the final at Wembley Stadium on March 16.

Salah has been in devastating form under Arne Slot in what could be his final season at Anfield.

In 33 appearances across all competitions, the former Roma forward has scored 25 goals and provided 17 assists.

However, those include just one goal in his three Carabao Cup matches this term.

He is expected to start once again, with Trent Alexander-Arnold the only notable injury absentee for Slot.

Meanwhile, Curtis Jones, Joe Gomez, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota have all recently returned to full fitness in another boost for the Reds.
