Thursday racing tips
- HUNTINGDON
1.45: Califet En Vol 15/8 (1pt)
2.20: La Renommee 7/2 (1pt)
4.05: Fortune De Mer 4/5 (2pts) - DONCASTER
2.45: Shanagh Bob 5/1 each-way (1pt)
Califet En Vol
Solid form behind The New Lion at Newbury back in November and more progression is on the cards.
That second place has worked out very well too and enough to hope that this horse can go on and win next time out.
Trainer Nicky Henderson has been in great form with some of his stars this year and Califet En Vol could be one of them, especially with his form behind the 3/1 shot for the Turner’s Novices’ Hurdle.
La Renommee
Brides Hill beat La Renommee in January’s renewal of this listed Mares’ Chase at Huntingdon in 2024.
It was an impressive victory confirming her odds-on favourite price.
However, on her first run back for this season she failed to deliver the 2/5 price placing third of four behind the same horse and Fantastic Lady.
She’s still rated much higher than the rest of the mares and should be a nice price at 5/4, but is she to be trusted after a third place finish?
La Renommee won well on return to 2m4f having previously only been at 3m this season, last going over 2m4f here in January 2024.
I’ve backed this seven-year-old plenty of times before and given the price, it might be best to back her to put in another huge effort like she often does.

- From July ’23: +430.71pts
Fortune De Mer
7lb higher than the rest of his rivals due to a win last time out in listed bumper company.
He reversed the order from the prior race when placing second to the same horse so clearly should be considered to go well here for the Skeltons.
He has the experience over plenty of other rivals and should be able to win this comfortably if he doesn’t bump into a star.
Shanagh Bob
Looked to be one to follow over the longer trips this season but hasn’t quite justified that potential yet, and is now reverting back to hurdles and down in trip to two and a half miles.
He’s 5/1 so dropping down to a Class 3 handicap chase is a very attractive price – especially each-way.
