Barcelona vs Alaves predictions

Barcelona is back. After no La Liga wins in their previous four, Barca thrashed a hapless Valencia 7-1 last Sunday to gain their first league win since the beginning of December.

There was nothing wrong with Barca’s form in the Champions League and the cup competitions.

They had thrashed Real Madrid 5-2 in the final of Supercopa de España earlier in the month, and also defeated Benfica 5-4 on Matchday 7 of the Champions League.

But for some reason, they just couldn’t click in the league. As a result, they have surrendered top spot to their bitter rivals, Real Madrid.

Since the turn of the year, the Catalans have now scored 31 goals in eight fixtures.

And further highlighting their extraordinary goal scoring powers, they racked up their 100th goal of the season in all competitions during last Sunday’s mauling of Valencia.

The Catalans couldn’t quite top the Champions League group on Wednesday.

A 2-2 home draw with Atalanta meant they failed to overhaul Liverpool and claim the top spot. And this after the Reds left the door open by losing 3-2 away at PSV.

Hansi Flick’s team had to make do with finishing second with 19 points from their eight matches.

Barca sit third in La Liga with 42 points from 21 matches. The Catalans started Matchday 22 trailing leaders Real Madrid by seven points, and second placed Atletico by three points.

The damage may already be done as far as Barca’s title aspirations go. All they can now do is keep on winning, while hoping that both Real and Atletico drop points

Matchday 22 began with Alaves sitting 17th in the table with 21 points from 21 matches

Eduardo Coudet’s team have been sliding down the table in slow motion this season. Babazorros were sixth after Matchday 6, 14th after Matchday 12, and 17th after Matchday 21. They are now officially in the relegation battle.

Despite their descent down the league table, Alaves have only lost one of their last seven. Highlighting where their problem lies, they’ve also only won one of their last seven.

A run of four consecutive draws was ended by a 1-0 home defeat to Girona on Matchday 19. Since that setback, Coudet’s team has won 3-1 at Real Betis and – in their most recent outing – drawn 1-1 at home with Celta Vigo.

Barcelona vs Alaves betting tips

Barca are just 1/6 to win their 14th La Liga match of the season. For more wagers on the match, please check out our Barcelona vs Alaves betting tips below:

Barcelona to win and both teams to score

Barcelona may have scored 31 goals in their last eight matches, but they’ve also failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six.

In fact, Hansi Flick’s team has conceded 11 in their last six outings.

Four of those goals came in the Benfica match. But even if we take that out of the equation, Barcelona has still conceded seven in their last five.

Alaves might not be big scorers, but they are consistent at finding the net, scoring in seven of their last eight outings.

They look good to keep that run going against a Barca team that is very open and loose at the back.

⚽ Back yes in both teams to score and Barcelona to win at 8/5 with SBK ⚽

Barcelona to score over 3.5 goals

Barcelona scored seven against Valencia last Sunday. Like the Valencians, Alaves are struggling near the foot of the table.

We already know that the Catalans are in red hot goalscoring form, and we also already know that Alaves can’t keep clean sheets.

Combine all the above and it could be a long night for the visitors.

Over 2.5 goals for Barca is 4/6, and this is definitely the safer bet.  But look at Barcelona’s recent stats.

In 2025 Barca has put five past Real Madrid, Real Betis and Benfica. They put four past UD Barbastro in the Copa del Rey, and they’ve also scored twice against Athletic Bilbao and Atalanta, two far stronger teams than Alaves.

In La Liga alone, Barca has scored four or more on seven occasions. Furthermore, Barcelona has averaged 3.875 goals per game in 2025.

Go with the safety of over 2.5 goals if you wish. But in their current form, surely it’s worth taking the better odds and going for over 3.5 Barca goals.

Fermin Lopez to score or assist

Hansi Flick rang the changes in the Barca team for last Sunday’s La Liga clash with Valencia.

This could have been done with the Champions League in mind. But Barca had already qualified for the top eight and had nothing really to play for against Atalanta on Wednesday.

If anything, Flick would have stood to lose more by not beating Valencia.

So it could be that Lewandowski wasn’t rested for the La Liga match, but more the case that Flick wanted to give the likes of Fermin Lopez and Ferran Torres a run out.

It’s fair to say Flick was rewarded. Torres scored in the 7-1 win. But it was Fermin Lopez who made the outstanding contribution.

The 21-year-old scored two goals and provided two assists in the Valencia rout.

He did find himself on the bench again against Atalanta on Wednesday. But surely he is worth his place in the team again when Alaves visit Catalonia on Sunday.

Lopez is 7/5 to score or assist. He had four goal involvements last week against Valencia. Don’t miss this bet if he starts against Alaves.
