WWE’s Royal Rumble match is the ultimate test of endurance as 30 superstars battle to be the last one standing.

The fan-favourite over-the-top-rope extravaganza has the ultimate prize in store for victors on the first stop towards WrestleMania.

The two Rumble winners get a world title shot of their choosing at ‘The Showcase Of The Immortals’ for being the last in the ring.

As a result, WWE‘s top stars have all regularly featured in the modified battle royal across multiple years for a shot at glory.

That doesn’t automatically mean those efforts have translated into lengthy stints inside the ring.

Hall of Famer Kane for example has made a whopping 20 Rumble appearances over his career but his just ninth overall for total time.

The best buck the odds stacked against them by an early entrance to last the distance – and some even win the entire thing.

Daniel Bryan is somewhat controversially recognised as the record holder for the longest time spent in a single Royal Rumble.

The American Dragon clocked in a time of 76 minutes and five seconds at the 2018 Greatest Royal Rumble.

However, the Saudi Arabia event had a record 50 participants, in comparison to a regular Rumble which contains 30 superstars.

Gunther, aka WALTER, completed a mammoth 71-minute and 40-second stint in 2023.

In doing so, he shattered Rey Mysterio‘s 2006 time of 62 minutes, 12 seconds – although the Master of the 619 has the honour of winning the event after his marathon showing.

Royal Rumble: Longest cumulative time

WWE icon Chris Jericho has spent the most amount of time competing in the Rumble – despite NEVER winning it!

The AEW star has been in the final four three times and was the Runner-up of the 2012 match – which was won by Sheamus.

His first appearance came in the 2000 Rumble where he was eliminated by Chyna, who was the first woman to appear in the men’s version.

He was the final entrant in the Greatest Royal Rumble match in 2018 to take his overall time to 4 hours 59 minutes 33 seconds.

For context, that is more than record three-time Rumble winner Stone Cold Steve Austin COMBINED with 2000’s victor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
