Littler, the newly crowned youngest ever darts world champion at just 17 years of age, will be looking to defend the Bahrain Darts Masters title he won last year, where he won his first professional final, this time entering the tournament as world champion.
Six of the other seven players confirmed to be competing in this year’s Premier League will also be in action, with two-time world champion Peter Wright filling in for Michael van Gerwen, the man who Littler beat in this month’s World Championship final, who misses out due to family commitments.
Littler, who is also the defending World Series champion after beating Michael Smith in last year’s final, will take on Lourence Ilagan of the Philippines in today’s quarter final.
World number one Luke Humphries is also in action for the first time since his shock defeat to Wright in the fourth round of the World Championships, looking to put that loss behind him as he goes up against one of the Bahraini local Abdulla Saeed.
Nathan Aspinall, Gerwin Price, Rob Cross and the aforementioned Wright return to this event from last year, while incoming Premier League duo Stephen Bunting and Chris Dobey will be making their first appearance at the Bahrain Masters.
