Open‘I break jaws’ – Conor McGregor uses MMA moves as he plays for pub football team

Conor McGregor has once again been spotted using MMA moves on a football pitch – but this time on rivals and not Bukayo Saka.

The former UFC champion was caught playing football on Saturday for his pub’s team in a United Churches Football League (UCFL) game.

McGregor wore the number 11 for Black Forge FC, who are named after the Irishman’s pub in Dublin the Black Forge Inn.

It appeared as if he played on the left wing, as he was filmed numerous times running down the line for his local side.

On one occasion, a teammate passed the ball to McGregor, who took a bad touch which allowed the opposition to snatch the ball.

However, the 36-year-old was having none of it and proceeded to use both hands to drag his opponent to the floor.

McGregor was also filmed attacking a corner after the opposition goalkeeper failed to clear his lines.

But instead of connecting with the ball, the Irishman put his left boot straight through his opponent’s torso, leaving him grounded on the AstroTurf pitch.

It comes just months after McGregor came under-fire for play-fighting with Arsenal star Saka on the pitch at the Emirates.

Before the match, McGregor shared an image of his shiny, Nike, purple boots with the caption: ‘Today we ball’.

He followed up: “I break jaws with my shoulder, and noses. I get the ball any pitch, anywhere. Moses”

Hilariously, he later added an image of Moses using his staff to part the waters of the Red Sea.

“Me in the centre midfield of any pitch,” the caption said.

McGregor revealed last week that he was interested in purchasing two football clubs in the League of Ireland.

This followed celebratory images of him congratulating his cousin Warren Davis on winning the FAI Cup with Drogheda United.

Drogheda won the cup in November, beating Derry City 2-0 in the final at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, and Davis was on the bench.

It was the first major trophy for the side from the east coast of Ireland, north of Dublin, since they won the League of Ireland in 2007 and only the second time in their history they have won the cup.

“How much is it to buy a League of Ireland team,” McGregor wrote on X.

“I might buy two.”

Drogheda responded to the Irishman’s intentions with an official statement asserting they ‘do not associate ourselves’ with McGregor.

McGregor hasn’t fought in the UFC since breaking his leg in July 2021 against Dustin Poirier.

The defeat marked McGregor’ s second to Poirier in the same year, after he was stopped by the American at UFC 257 six months prior.

Actor, comedian and talkSPORT pundit Blake Harrison believes Paddy Pimblett is the only opponent McGregor ‘could’ beat, should he ever make a return to MMA‘s biggest league.

“I’m looking down the rankings at lightweight. There’s not a single fight in the whole top 15 that I would favour him in,” he said on the first-ever episode of talkMMA.

“I do think that a big fight you could make that he could win, but probably wouldn’t. But it would be huge. It’s Paddy Pimblett.”

Pimblett has previously discussed a fight with McGregor, saying he would ‘of course’ say yes if offered the opportunity.
