OpenManchester United and Liverpool target only has eyes for one club in January – and they’re not in the Premier League

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia favours a move to join Paris Saint-Germain in January over a switch to the Premier League, talkSPORT understands.

The Napoli star, who could depart Italy in the winter transfer window, is regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting wingers.

Kvaratskhelia has earned rave reviews since joining Napoli in 2022 – chipping in with 12 goals and 13 assists in his debut season to help the club win their first Scudetto in 33 years.

But despite being a fan favourite, he could be set to leave following a lack of movement regarding an extension to his contract which expires in 2027.

His situation has put a host of clubs on red alert, with Manchester United and Liverpool just two clubs keeping tabs on the 23-year-old.

However, the Georgia international is believed to favour a move to France with Paris Saint-Germain leading the race to secure his services.

talkSPORT correspondent Ben Jacobs has provided an update on the forward’s future, with PSG prepared to pay around £67million.

Taking to social media, Jacobs has revealed that the player held talks with Les Parisiens last summer, with the Ligue 1 leaders retaining an interest in him.

He posted on X: “PSG working on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who wants to join in January.

“Georgian winger a top target over the summer but Napoli refused to sell.

“Not as clear cut now because Kvaratskhelia has not signed a new contract.

“Personal terms not expected to be a problem as basics agreed last year. PSG prepared to pay close to €80m [£67m, release clause].

“Different formulas (including player+cash) to reach this valuation being explored.”

Should PSG be successful in landing the Napoli star’s signature, this would certainly be a bitter blow to his other admirers.

Since his maiden season in Italy, Kvaratskhelia has continues to dazzle fans, with the wide man directly involved in eight Serie A goals this term.

He also enjoyed a stunning Euro 2024, where he inspired Georgia to reach the knockout stages on their major tournament debut.

With Marcus Rashford appearing destined to leave Old Trafford, United had been tipped to bring in Kvaratskhelia as his replacement.

Meanwhile rivals Liverpool – already blessed with a number of left wing options – are keen to bolster their attacking options with his addition in their quest to win a second Premier League title.

Arne Slot neither confirmed nor denied Liverpool’s interest in Kvaratskhelia

Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez are all stars who have featured from down the left flack for the Reds this term.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the club’s FA Cup third round tie with Accrington Stanley, boss Arne Slot was asked about their reported interest in Kvaratskhelia.

Remaining tight-lipped, he simply stated: “99/100 times at the end of the window it’s been clear that almost all of these stories weren’t true.

“But no comments from my side.”
