Open‘Mark my words’ – Cristiano Ronaldo reveals dream role when asked Man United question

Cristiano Ronaldo revealed his dream role after football when he was asked about former club Manchester United.

The Portugal captain hinted at his future plans as he insisted the Red Devils’ current struggles are not due to Ruben Amorim and the new boss is capable of fixing them.

Ronaldo showed his support for Amorim, saying ‘the problem is not always the coach, it’s much more than that’.

Speaking at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai on Friday, Ronaldo – who made 346 appearances for Man United over two separate spells – said: “The Premier League it’s the most difficult league in the world.

“All the teams are good, all the teams fight, all the teams run, all the players are strong. Football is different right now. There’s no easy games anymore.

“I said this one and a half years ago, and I will continue to say it: The problem is not the coaches.

“It’s like an aquarium. If you have the fish inside and he’s sick and you take him out and you fix the problem and you put him again in an aquarium they will be sick again.

“This is the problem of Manchester United. It is the same.

“If I will be the owner of the club, I will make things clear and adjust what I think is bad there.”

Ronaldo’s comments came after he hinted at his footballing future, insisting he has no interest in becoming a manager and instead sees him owning a ‘big club’.

He added: “I’m not a coach. I’m never going to be a coach, president of the club? No. Maybe owner of the club.

“It will depend on the moment, the right opportunities.”

Asked whether he had considered any clubs, Ronaldo responded: “Not yet. A few, maybe.”

He was also asked about whether he had made any contact with the Glazers directly, saying: “I’m still very young, I have so many plans and dreams ahead.

“But mark my words, I will be owner of a big club. For sure.”

The end to Ronaldo’s latest Man United tenure in 2022 came after a very public spat with then-boss Erik ten Hag, which preceded a TV interview with Piers Morgan in which he said the Glazer family as owners ‘don’t care about the club’.

Ronaldo scored 145 goals and assisted 64 during his time at Old Trafford and started his career at Amorim’s former club Sporting.

“He did a fantastic job in Portugal with my club Sporting,” CR7 said about the Portuguese coach.

“But the Premier League is a different beast, it’s a different league, it’s the most competitive league in the world.

“I knew it would be tough and they would continue the storm, but the storm will finish and the sun will rise.

“Fingers crossed things will be good with him and I hope the best for Manchester United because this is a club I still love.”

Amorim recently admitted he knows his ‘job is not safe’ ahead of Man United’s clash with Newcastle, having lost five of his 10 games in charge.
